“Soho average-house”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2012

We stayed at Soho house earlier this year and i must say that for the price i was extremely disappointed. Especially with the room that we had on the library level - it was extremely small and cramped, definitely not what I was expecting from a Soho House.

The staff is very helpful and did recommend some great places to eat out, they were also sure to check we were members each time we entered the premises.

Breakfast is average, nothing special on that side. Sleep quality - make sure you bring yourself some ear plugs because you can hear people walking in and out of the elevators all night and helping down the corridor.

I wouldn't stay in this Soho house again, it would be good to obtain membership if we lived in nyc for a few reasons, its really nothing special though.

Room Tip: Make sure you don't get a room next to an elevator, you'll never sleep.

PDourneau, General Manager at Soho House New York, responded to this review, 24 July 2012
Thank you for your feedback as we are always striving to improve the service at Soho House NY. The Meatpacking District is a trendy area featuring night clubs that are very popular with hotel guests and members alike. That said, our front desk is available 24 hours a day to look into any noise complaints you may have.

I hope you had the opportunity to unwind by our rooftop pool or retreat to the Cowshed Spa where we feature a wide range of body care and beauty treatments. In addition to our Continental breakfast spread, our full breakfast menu is available to order, so I hope you will reconsider joining us for a meal.

Once again, we are grateful for any suggestions you may have. Please don't hesitate to contact me as we look forward to welcoming you back.

All the best,

Pierre Dourneau

I was a guest of a member of Soho House NYC club. As a result, I enjoyed the benefits of well mixed drinks on the uber cool rooftop deck on a hopping evening in the Meatpacking district. A very memorable experience, and one I relished, and will relish in memory.

We have stayed at a few of the Soho House hotels and I must say we think they are all great. They have the formula pinned down, locations, staff, simple but good food, stylish yet functional... it just works. The Meatpacking District is fun for both restaurants, clubs and shopping so you get a lot just around the block. So it can get a bit noisy at night with people and taxis everywhere but one just have to see it as part of the experience I guess. The breakfast/brunch is amazing, bar fun and rooms comfy. We were there in November so obviously didnt get to check out the pool but I think it rocks in the summer.

Room Tip: Rooms higher up are less noisy.

So I have friends that are members so I get to come/stay here from time to time... The cowshed spa is great, the drinks are amazing and the roof top pool is really really clutch on those hot NYC days!!!

We just had the best NYC trip ever. The stay at the hotel was pivotal to that. We had a small intimate family reunion there that was based on our son's surprise10th birthday. The hotel did everything they said they would and more, making this such a perfect trip. Time at the pool was the best, even though we had to leave slightly earlier than desired by 11.30 each day with our son. The food and drinks were of a great standard and definitely the best packed mini bar I've come across. They think of everything, right down to hair straighteners.
A great team creating a fabulous result. Keep it up Soho house NYC.

If you have a few extra dollars to splurge and don't like "stuffy" Soho House is a great stay.

We had the pleasure of having one of the larger rooms, and I adored the steam shower and the large egg shaped bath at the foot of the bed. Ceiling Curtains can section off the lounging space as well so you can work and play in the room.

The spa is amazing and busy so book ahead and the pool on the roof is fabulous (but a little intimidating if you aren't in supermodel shape! but friendly enough).

The food and cocktails are pretty decent but for fine dining I would opt for a outside restaurant, this is more the casual style of dining so great for brunch etc.

We had the luck to return to Soho House this Easter and we once again had a most enjoyable stay, we even had the exact same room as per our last visit in 2009.

The hotel has had some alterations to the restaurant and bar area on the 6th floor which have only enhanced the facilities of the hotel.

The room we had was large and airy and the sheets were changed daily, with an abundant supply of fresh fluffy towels and complimentary Cow Shed products and a wealth of other amenities.

We ate for the first time in the Restaurant and the food was superb, our first choice of wine was out of stock and we were given a complimentary bottle of wine!

The service from Front of House, the Waiting Staff and Chambermaids were all first rate and they all ensured our stay was perfect in every way.

We have stayed at other hotels in New York but will certainly be back to Soho House as we love the place and the ambiance, but more importantly for us it has the best location in the whole of Manhattan.

Room Tip: All Play Rooms and above are of an excellent size and have great facilities
