We went to the Churchill for our Christmas dinner and as it was also my birthday, they made sure the day was extremely special. As soon as we walked in the staff made us feel welcome and were really friendly - they could not do enough for us. The food was also delicious and big portions but very reasonably priced. We went back for lunch on New Year's Eve and again, the food was tasty and very cheap - I had the lunchtime special steak which came with half a pint for only $12! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone staying in the area

We picked The Churchill after researching where we could have a traditional Christmas meal on our special family Christmas holiday to New York. On arrival we were charmed by the festive, cosy decor and surroundings and a welcoming greeting from the owner. However, it soon became apparent that the couple next to us had been waiting a long time for their food and unfortunately we, along with everyone else in the pub, suffered the same. After 2 and a half hours we had only been served 2 of the 3 promised courses which were lukewarm and we were then told it would be at least half an hour more to wait for dessert - which we couldn't do since we had tickets for a show. When we complained they did take a round of drinks off yet apologies were minimal since so many other people seemed to be complaining and we were made to feel as though we had no grounds for complaint because other people had suffered far worse delays. We understand that problems can happen with catering but what really upset us is no member of staff ever came up to our table to apologise for the delay so we got increasingly frustrated. It was a lovely venue so we were sad that it ended so badly but feel that they need to keep customers better informed when problems happen.

We had booked for Christmas Day dinner as travelling all day and wanted to have a traditional meal. The restaurant looked very festive and we only had to wait a short while to get a table. We had to ask someone to take our order (the waitress was lovely) and was told there was no vegetables only the brussel sprouts were left. Everyone around us was not eating and we got speaking to the family next to us and they had been there since 6pm and had not been given any food, it was now after 7pm. Our starter arrived which was ok watery soup and 4 shrimps which we had to pay an extra $8 for. On a table nearby the family got up to leave and had words with the manageress (loudly) saying they had been there a long time and still had not received any food. We did feel sorry for the manageress who looked very stressed. We then were told there was no turkey left and had to switch to chicken. The table next to us had only just got there starter by now. We then were given our main meal which was very paltrey(poultry) only 3 very anaemic roast potatoes, a few brussel sprouts and a spoonful of dry stuffing. We spoke to the manageress who was very apologetic but obviously was not coping very well. We had one meal taken off the bill but still paid $88 for a very poor meal. She did ask if we would come back and give it another try but we said not...having said all this the staff were lovely and obviously working under difficult circumstances.

Disaster is an understatement! We waited two hours for an appetiser and then a half hour longer for our main meal. It would have been a longer wait had we not asked staff several times for our meals. We skipped on the desserts, as out of the 7 on the menu only 2 were available!

It wasn't just us though, we watched as many angry customers, who were promised a cooked Christmas dinner, left angry whilst the owner demanded that they still should pay for their drinks. We saw many waitresses crying because the owner had given them to the dogs.

The meals that came varied in size. They were running low on some foods such as Turkey, chicken and ham. So the meals then came out half the size of other customers.

To illustrate how low the night was, the owner attempted to make up the night by giving the kids with us some chocolate. However the children were too tired and hungry to care.

In conclusion, it was understaffed, under catered and an extreme case of poor customer service.

Had the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. We waited two hours to recieve our main meal. An hour and a half for the entree. By the time it came to dessert there was nothing good left. The owner could care less about customer service and told people not to go to social media because she didn't want a bad reputation. If it wasn't for our beautiful waitress the night would have been completely ruined. A table of thirteen is not an excuse to dismiss meals for that long. There were young children that needed to be fe that we're ignored A couple that came in an hour and a half after us received their meals before us. The only reason I would recommended this restaurant is for the lovely waitress we had.
