I liked the memorial and the surviving tree. I think the museum will tell more of the story of the families and the victims. I thought the current status is rather sparse and the tours seemed to be more interesting then the self tour.

More than 10 years later the ground zero site has been powerfully transformed. We thought the park like grounds and deep waterfalls and name plaques where the towers once stood were incredibly moving and at the same time there was a sense of optimism seeing the area back to life with new construction on the complex continuing. I am looking forward to going back to see the museum when it is completed.

The memorial grounds were beautifully done and a powerful reminder of events that took place there. The new building towers over the spacious grounds and adds to the atmosphere by showing the resiliency and ability to rebuild, but without forgetting what happened. It was crowded on a Sunday afternoon, but plenty of room to move around. Museum is not open yet, so will have to go back for the full experience, but it's worth the trip now. Go online and get your tickets in advance (only a $2 fee applies). It's better than trying to figure out how to navigate the crowds on-site.

Thank atima

I was taken back by how beautiful of a job they did with the north and south pools. Even though it has been 12 years, it is still very emotional to be there

We visited both the Tribute Centre and the 9/11 memorial, and it was one of the best days out in NY. The tribute centre, although very small, has great information and there are several artefacts rescued from the buildings. This museum prepares you for the memorial, so it is worth dropping in on beforehand. We got a tour guide to show us the memorial, and the tour was led using a headset so we could hear what the guide said, which worked very well in general. The guide had himself been in 9/11 and we got to hear his own story of what happened. I would definitely recommend getting a tour guide so you know exactly what you are looking at, and it helped to know what each part of the memorial represented. On a tour you get to skip the long queues as well, and this meant that the tour was not too slow. We also got to see some extra photos and documents from the day, which were an added bonus. The memorial itself is extremely overpowering, with a huge waterfall and the sounds of crashing water. This place is the perfect trip for teenagers or adults - however it is not suited to younger kids due to the more serious nature of the memorial. It was a very memorable experience, professionally done and well worth the money.
