“It was good...”

Sistas the Musical at St. Luke's Theatre
Attraction details

It was a good show...not amazing, but good.

The singing...there were moments that I was blown away and moments when I was disappointed. I'd hoped the singing would be consistently amazing, but it wasn't. All of the performers could sing...some were amazing and some were just okay.

The acting...The acting was ok for me...just ok...Not bad, not great...

The script...seemed to tackle so much that it seemed to be TOO much for me...it was all over the place for me...

Overall...I am glad I saw it..went with my husband and my mother...My mom really enjoyed it...so overall it was a good (not great) experience...

It was a bit tricky to find, the basement of a church on Restaurant Row (but that made it easy to find food later!). The floor doesn't slope, so you have to hope for not many tall heads in front of you. But still, what a wonder show! I was in tears often from the beautiful songs and heartfelt stories. There were laughs, too, and sometimes we couldn't help singing along. Definitely worth the visit to NYC.

I booked this play online and was a little nervous about what to expect when I got there but I was pleasantly surprised. All of the performers are extremely talented and the musical beautifully written. We were enchanted from the moment it began all the way to the end. This play deserves a standing ovation and I would recommend anyone intersted in good music and african american history to check it out.

I loved every thing about this play!!! Brlliant writing but even better were the performances of the 5 cast members. Intergenerational drama and lovefest in song. I will go again! I felt so proud to be a black woman and to share ancestry with the majority of women in the cast. I also felt proud to know that white member of the audience were exposed to the musical legends, past and present and learned alittle more about the heroism of every black woman. The story was well told and I was moved to tears on several occassions and in the end lept to my feet in exhilaration to the chorus of We Are Family. I hope others see it and may it run for a long, long, long time.
