“Great location to see NY”

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights right after Christmas. The room was clean and quiet. The hotel staff was very friendly. The location is fantastic. It is just a block and a half from Grand Central Terminal, which connects you to subway trains that can take you anywhere you need to go. You also can walk to many attractions, because it is in midtown. At the same time, you are away from the chaos of Times Square. The breakfast was a typical breakfast for this type of hotel, but it was enough to start the day and save some money.

The cons are what you would expect -- the room was expensive (although fairly priced given the other NY options) and small (the king bed dominated our room). I don't fault the hotel for either of those aspects -- you just need to be prepared for it if you are traveling to NY from out of town. If you expect a typical hotel room, you will be disappointed.

The breakfast line and the wait for the elevator got a little long during peak times, but that was a minor inconvenience. Again, you just need to expect things like that when you travel to NY.

Overall, we would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I decided to dash to NYC for an overnight visit and I booked this hotel based on the positive reviews. We arrived at 11 am on Friday, well before the check-in time, but thankfully they had a nice corner room available for us. The room was small but clean and stylish. We spent most of the day in the city and when we returned in the evening the tv wasn't working properly. I called the front desk and they sent someone to fix it within 5 minutes. When we checked in I also found the desk staff pretty polite. The hotel is on a quiet street, but within walking distance of Grand Central station, and even Times Square if you don't mind walking. There is also a pretty good Italian restaurant, Pietro's, right across the street, which is where we had for dinner. This is a good hotel, worthy of a return visit.

On a recent two night stay in NY I booked two rooms at this Hotel near Grand Central. Due to late arrival around 2:00 AM I was classified as a no show and therefore there was no towel or room service available the next morning despite the full room charge of both rooms. Only after several complaints and a tedious process at check out I was given credit for one night of one room. Not exactly what I would have expected from a "100% Satisfaction Guarantee" The rooms are very small and there is no sound barrier between rooms. If you want to sleep in, there is no breakfast or coffee available after 10:00 AM.

Although we do have specific hours breakfast is served in the hotel, there is always complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate available for our guests in the breakfast area 24hrs. This is the second Hampton Inn in NYC that has given me pause. I love this location for any midtown activity. The neighborhood has excellent dining options and is close to Grand Central. This is another refurbished older style hotel with tight, small floors and small rooms. The rooms are renovated and well appointed, although 90% of the floor is covered by bed. The bathroom is also small but well appointed. Service here was below expectation. On a 4 day stay, housekeeping skipped our room twice. The front desk was not especially concerned about this although they did make a call to get someone to clean the room. This hotel, like the SoHo Hampton, had some questionable traffic in and out of rooms that made me uncomfortable. We stayed on a weekend which may account for some of the problem. I am looking for a better NYC alternative next time.

Probably the smallest rooms I have seen at a Hampton Inn, but this is what we'll see in the future in lots of chains..this was definitely "small space done well". I rate this 5 star instead of 4 star because of what I experienced with the front desk staff. Friendly, polite, accommodating..unusual for many NYC properties.
Pros..staff, Hilton great bedding, clean, and relatively quiet interior, with a perfect location if you need to be near Grand Central.
Cons...when all the rooms show up for breakfast at once, it is pandemonium, as it would be anywhere with limited space...but hey it was free, and full of families when we went..my guess is when it's a normal busy week, it works just fine..Tiny lobby which seems to be a trend in new properties at this price point in NYC.
We'd stay again!

Room Tip: Only 8 rooms to a floor, so maybe ask for a corner room

A reasonable option for staying in Midtown without breaking the bank - less than 3 blocks from Grand Central. The bed was comfortable, and everything was clean. The staff were friendly and attentive. I would return.

We arrived and the parking garage is right next door. ASK THE FRONT DESK FOR A PARKING VOUCHER AT CHECK-IN. It will save you 32 dollars on overnight parking! Check-in was easy and fast. Very polite staff. The room was not cramped at all, but the bathroom was very small and did not have a door that closed. It was a rolling door reminiscent of a closet rolling door. Anything that was said or any noise was amplified throughout the room... lol. My family is close and we found it hilarious! Beds were comfy, pillows felt like we were sleeping on a shower curtain. Our room was quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was great. There is a 99cent pizza place a few buildings down that was amazing. We could not locate vending machines... There are only 2 on certain floors of the 20 floor hotel. THEY SHOULD POST WHERE THE VENDING AND ICE MACHINES ARE IN THE ELEVATORS!!! 5 dollar cab ride takes you to Rockefeller Center or Central Park areas. Check-out was a breeze. We felt safe and the street was relatively quiet. We will be staying there in the future.
