Owner description: Tony Award® winner Scarlett Johansson (A View From the Bridge, “Lost in Translation”) returns to Broadway as “Maggie the Cat” in Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning drama, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Ciarán Hinds (“Political Animals,” There Will Be Blood), Benjamin Walker (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) and Tony and Emmy® winner Debra Monk (Curtains, “Damages”) co-star in Williams’ classic story about a wealthy Southern family and the passions and secrets that come close to destroying them.On the eve of his 65th birthday, "Big Daddy" Pollitt, the richest cotton planter in the Mississippi Delta, is distressed by the rocky relationship between his beloved son Brick, an aging football hero who has turned to drink, and Brick’s beautiful and feisty wife Maggie. As the hot summer evening unfolds, the veneer of Southern gentility slips away revealing unpleasant truths as greed, lies and suppressed sexuality reach a boiling point.Tony and Emmy winner Rob Ashford, fresh from his recent Olivier-winning West End production of Anna Christie, directs this stunning, must-see new production.

I love seeing actors perform live. And they did an excellent job in this play. Scarlett Johansson was excellent!

“Scarlett Johannsen”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2013

Went to see this because we wanted to see any show on Broadway. We came across this walking along Broadway one evening and thought it was a bonus that a movie celebrity would be in the play and we could see her live. Scored tickets with fairly food seats and paid $140 each for the 7pm start. Show ran for 2 hrs 45 mins. Quite disappointed as we thought she was the weakest actor in the cast. Her voice did not suit the stage. My husband loves her and he was so keen to see her in this show but he fell asleep a few times. Had to nudge him to wake him a few times. Even my eyes got heavy on a few occasions. It was pretty dry and boring. Not worth the $280 spent.

“Scarlett is amazing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 March 2013

Managed to get half price tickets to see this show and it was worth my husband standing in the queue. There is a warning of some nudity it turns out to be a bare bottom! We took our children aged 12 and 14 both enjoyed it if a bit weary by the end. Love Broadway theatre tiered seating and free playbills!

“Headliner cannot save this play”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 March 2013 via mobile

Was so excited to see the play but was left feeling ripped off and disappointed.

The theater is wrong for the play, it was difficult to hear the cast and the stage was expansive and there was no intimacy which is what the experience lacked.

Scarlet Johansen worked hard and did an admirable job but she was fighting a much bigger problem.

The play lacked rhythm and needed to be better paced.

Not worth it and really disappointed.

“Excellent Performances”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 March 2013

The theatre is beautiful, the cast was amazing. Tennessee Williams has a habit of writing very long monologues that can be dry at times with the wrong delivery, but this cast kept you interested with every word. Very good.
