“Stay away”

Stay away.. the place was dirty, and the food wasn't that great plus they over charged us.
We ordered the Pecking duck and it was rubbery
Make sure to check your bill and there are better places in China town to eat a clean good tasting food

“My favorite Chinese Restaraunt anywhere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 March 2013

I have been doing business with this place for at least 25 years. The noodle dishes are great. Awesome window duck and a very friendly staff.

Don't expect much in terms of decor or ambiance - this is about the style of a diner. But if you came to eat great and very traditional Chinese food this is the place.

We ordered a whole duck to go and baby bok choy with whole garlic. I have no idea how they got the garlics to be so yummy but they sure were. The duck is about as good as it gets.

The owner is very nice and friendly - take his suggestions and be adventurous.

One of the nicest surprises will be your bill - a great meal can be had for 10 -15 a head which in NYC is a darn good price

“Not really very authentic Cantonese Chinese food!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2013

Since it's a restaurant, so one must rate them for food, and food (almost) alone. The cooking is really not top-notch, just slightly better than average IMHO. Somehow, I personally think that the cooks are NOT authentically Cantonese-trained, or -sourced. They probably were locally bred, so the resultant taste was not authentically Cantonese, what it's supposed to be. The "Wong" chain of restaurants began as Wonton shops (noodle/noodle soups, wonton soups....), and they added cooked rice dishes..... From 1 original "Wong" shop, there are now many "Wong" shops. Ownership may not be related, just that the old "Wong" staff branched out to set up their own shop. Oh, besides wonton, actually they were famous for the roast pork, because they were the only guys who cooked roast pork with charcoals, giving their roast pork that that uniqu charcoal flavor..... so much for the history part. But.... outside of that, the food is just good. 3.5 stars tops, but no 3.5 choice, so I bit the dust and gave it 4 stars - 0.5 star.
