Great views from the apartment - Samuel’s pictures really understate it’s location.
Bed seems to have a memory foam topper added since previous reviews describing it as uncomfortable - it was fine for us. My son said the pull out couches were also fine. There were plenty of towels sheets and blankets in the apartment.
The roof garden - holy moley. I was worried that there might be some loophole where it would be packed or not accessible to us - it’s open from 6:00am to 12 midnight. It has magical views of manhattan skyline on one side and the river and cruise shops on the other - not to mention the sunset. But also easily available to us when we stayed there. We ordered pizza in and the family sat up there with wine and soft drinks amazed by the view. Food orders came directly to the apartment by the way after ordering online on certain food ordering websites or ringing directly to whatever restaurants we wanted. Had a few breakfasts up there to. Unbelievable. Really. Sitting there with orange juice and cereal - is there any hotel that offers this?

The apartment is a 3 minute walk from a great D’agostinos supermarket - even had kerrygold butter. Also some nice family owned places nearby which weren’t as well stocked but were very friendly and they’d chat to you etc, making you feel very welcome. That’s another thing; area very safe and welcoming; even the very few so called “street people” with substance abuse issues kept to themselves and did their own thing. People were very nice and courteous. Moms with strollers would nod and smile when they met us. Locals would suggest what they thought were better coffee shops etc - so the NY abrasive attitude we were told to expect was not seen once.
The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen - huge fridge freezer gas cooker and oven, microwave and dishwasher. Very spacious walk in wardrobe in the bedroom and storage closet in the kitchen area. Apartment was super clean as we can be fussy about that - though the carpet in the bedroom shows signs of wear - it’s such a small detail but I feel I should say something negative do as to sound balanced. The apartment is on the 18th floor which is why the views are so good. Really safe as we had a 3 year old with us. So no worries about balconies etc; windows are openable with a safety feature so you can get a nice cool breeze without having to worry about children’s safety.
It’s about 15 minutes walk from Times Square and similar distance to Central Park so a brilliant location.
Arrival was super simple - We rang a number provided by Stephen and a really nice young guy called Kay magically appeared as we got out of the taxi and ten minutes later he had finished the tour of the building and we had the place to ourselves - so easier check in than a hotel (check out was just super simple too, they tell you what to do). So on the whole a wonderful experience. No disappointments.

Positives :
Amazing views from bedroom and living room.
Spacious with lots of storage.
Kitchen had everything we needed.
Shower was good.
Good heating.
Good WiFi.
Negatives :
Additional $80 cleaning bill seemed excessive.
Uncomfortable sofabed (but we were provided with a blow up mattress).
Check in:
Instructions were to call someone when we arrived at JFK. Was a bit nervous when we couldn't initially contact anyone on arrival. We had all sorts of nightmare scenarios running through our head considering we didn't have the full address. Eventially got through and arranged to meet someone at a restaurant nearby the appartement.
Maybe it's just me but the whole thing made me feel nervous on arrival at the airport. My suggestion to make people feel more welcome and at ease would be to arrange a driver to meet you at the airport. I would happily pay for this instead of paying for a cab and making my own way.

Accommodations were as noted . Host was accommodating. Easy check-in/check-out. Couldn't beat location or fantastic view. Would recommend having carpet cleaned but other than that, very satisfied.

“Great trip to NYC”

We had a very enjoyable week in NYC and loved this accommodation.

It is in heart of W Side/Hells Kitchen area and is therefore handy for Metro connections to all attractions; there are many good diners in easy walking distance, also several supermarkets/drug stores nearby.

Photos attached by the owner to the listing do not do justice to the breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline available from this accommodation. The rooftop terrace adds to the experience.

The accommodation conprises one bedroom and living room, the bathroom and kitchen have all anyone would need. There is a large walk-in closet in bedroom and plenty shelving/cupboard space throughout.

Other reviewers have complained about the bed, we liked the firm bed. I wonder if an issue is that the jet lag and associated disruption to people's sleep patterns accentuates people's negativity to the firm bed. The futons are OK for living room lounging but we agreed we wouldn't want to have to sleep on them.

If one was to be hypercritical it would be to suggest a coat of white emulsion would refresh the entire flat. Also we encountered occasional difficulty accessing the wifi unless we were based in bedroom - the router is based in living room. Neither issue significantly affected our very positive view of the accommodation.

Communications with the owner and his property manager via TripAd message box and phone were very quick and helpful throughout the process.

I would definitely come back to this apartment and would recommend the property, the owner and his manager.
