Amazing meal and no nonsense service. Everything was fresh and well presented. The halibut and potatoes just incredible. Nice surprise was the Greek chardonnay, give it a try. Next time I'm back in the City, I'll be returning to Periyali.

I can echo what other reviewers have already written. We have eaten here now and then since the 1990s. It is remarkable that the original concept of a restaurant can remain consistent over so many years and somehow still seem fresh and original, yet, at the same time, tranquil and familiar. This comment applies to all aspects of the place, the ambiance, the service, and, most of all, the food. A fixed price dinner menu keeps a budget intact, but there are also enticing daily specials, mostly fish. This is a Greek restaurant, after all! Everything we ate was very good to excellent and service is attentive without being cloying. This is your chance to try a Greek wine or enjoy a well-made cocktail. Everyone is awed by the massive fresh flower arrangements. We're already planning our next visit.

Been going here for past 20 years and always get a great meal with super service. Great white Greek wine from Santorini.
We always start by sharing the Greek Country Salad & the sampler plate of dips with pita.

They are famous for their grilled shrimp but we love all the fresh seafood which changes constantly & is prepared simply grilled withe olive oil & lemon.

Leave room for rice pudding and baklava.

I go to Greece a couple of times/year to see relatives and when I want the same food in NYC, Periyali is the place for me. The grilled octopus and Moussaka are archetypical. The liver appetizer and rabbit stefado are excellent. The room is really quite nice. Definitely more special than the overhyped midtown fish restaurants like Milos.

Sunday evening family dinner after a long day in the city. Shared a Greek salad, taramasalata and octopus to start. All excellent, particularly the octopus. Shared branzino for main course except for non-fish eating son who has chicken skewers. Branzino was excellent. Baklava for dessert followed by complimentary liquor. Only minor issue was the wine mark up seemed excessive. Homely, pleasant surroundings and a big shout out to our waiter Adi who was friendly and knowledgeable. This place is definitely a keeper.
