“Favorite restaurant in NYC (and I've been to MANY)”
Reviewed 7 February 2014

My partner and I had dinner at Annisa to celebrate our wedding and the arrival of our first child. Everything about the evening was exceptional; from the moment we walked in the door, to collecting our coats, we felt welcome, respected and appreciated. The meal was truly a privilege to enjoy, as the food was incredible and the service impeccable. We ordered the chef's tasting menu, and the food was not only delicious and cooked perfectly, but the progression of the meal was spot-on all the way through the lemon verbena tea at the end. Unlike some other reviews, I thought the portion sizes were absolutely adequate (really, people...maybe you're just eating too much??). The ambiance of Annisa is exactly what you would hope for in a fine dining establishment: not overly fussy, quiet without being awkward, and well-lit while still maintaining a romantic "glow" (as opposed to places where you can barely see the food on your plate because it's so dark). This meal will certainly be hard to beat, and I recommend it to everyone I know looking for a nice restaurant for a special occasion. Bravo to Chef Anito Lo and her team for providing us with an evening worthy of all we have to celebrate.

“Lovely and delicious evening.”
Reviewed 29 January 2014

I'm generally a "less is more" advocate and a critic of complex and complicated cuisines, but my taste buds at last experienced a wow factor in the latter category. I was looking for a long and quiet evening with a dear friend accompanied by a sensational meal and Annisa delivered on both. Will be returning again, and again, and again with great anticipation.

After dining in several NYC upscale restaurants this was just outstanding, ranging from service over wine to food. Definitely the best value for money. We had the five course dinner, enjoyed particularly the fois gras dumplings and the oh-so-yummy deserts. Great wine menu featuring some nice German Rieslings (not so common in NYC). Exceptionally great service, personalized to the point. Overall we were extremely happy, would recommend it for sure.

“Loved it”
Reviewed 2 December 2013 via mobile

My husband and I had a lovely 5 course tasting menu on Saturday. Service & wine were well above standard for the price. The food was exceptional, with the lamb dish being truly unforgettable.

So happy to have this wonderful restaurant in the village!

“Delightful in all respects”
Reviewed 7 November 2013

This was our first visit to Annisa and it was a delight. The room is small with understated elegance , well-spaced tables and moderate noise levels. Service is relaxed but highly professional-no "hanging over your shoulder" nor any signs of pretentiousness. Meals can be ordered either ala carte or from a 5 or 7 course tasting menu with each course chosen by the chef. Ingredients are incredibly fresh and the chef uses a variety of unusual Asian spices to produce very interesting taste combinations. Delicious courses included a barbecued squid appetiser, seared foie gras with soup dumplings, pork rib eye and perfectly cooked sable with miso and bonito sauce. Wines are unusual (we had an excellent Sonoma vigonier blend) and bottles are available at reasonable (i.e., under $100 levels ). We have added this to our list of NYC"s best.
