“A small local spot with homemade and healthy items”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 February 2013

This place has been in business for 20 years or so. If you are not paying an attention, you could walk by! They have basic brunch or snack items, but have some light supper items. They are just healthy and good. Located in SOHO, I think this is a good place to have light bites.

“Cozy casual lunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 January 2013

If you're visiting SoHo, try Once Upon a Tart (on Sullivan south of Houston) for a homemade soup and sandwich or salad or mini-tart. Everything is homemade and delicious. The few tiny white marble tables give the place a warm bistro feel. Madelines and ginger cookies for dessert make this one of my faves. The space is tiny, and the menu is limited but inventive (sweet pea and almond soup)....but it's my go-to when I'm in the neighborhood. They also have a take-out place a few doors down if you want to load up on the tarts (savory or sweet) and muffins and cookies for home. Also, ginger iced tea...yum.

“Very tasty sandwiches”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2012

We were looking to eat at Dutch, but with no reservation, we were told 45 minute wait! Starving, we came across this little sandwich bar. I had the pork sandwich which was excellent. We both had the pea & almond soup which was very good but very rich. We had a blueberry tart to go which was yummy! Would definitely come back if in the area.

“Please, please, please eat here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 March 2012

We happened upon this gorgeous little patisserie quite by chance on our walk into central New York from Battery park.
It's only a small little store selling the most wonderful homemade muffins, cakes and treats and at times it's hard to get a seat but don't let that put you off.
We had breakfast here on a couple of mornings alongside New Yorkers who obviously know a great little place when they find one. In fact I can't find fault with Once Upon A Tart as we just loved eating here and will rush back again when we're next in the city.

“Delicious tarts and muffins”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 December 2011

My husband and I went early on a Sunday morning, right when they opened, and had muffins and coffee in a quiet, almost empty restaurant. Then I got a pumpkin tart to go and ate it later on the plane home. It was even better than the muffin. Next time I'm in NYC, I'll definitely go back for lunch!
