We were next door at the Heartland Brewery which got too loud with the World Cup game so we went next door to The Republic which has about 10 tables outside. The waiter said we had to order food to eat outside but relented as there was a table available. Anyhow we ordered the Pad Thai noodles ($15) and there was plenty for two and was very tasty. I had never had noodles so I didn't know what to expect. There was a happy hour special on drinks, so I ordered wine (Malbec) which was $4.00 a drinkable. I went inside and noticed the community tables and ultra-ultra large size TV screens taking up the whole wall. Definitely stop at this place if you want or like Noodles and are in the Union Square area. The street in front was closed for some reason so there were no cars going by, but plenty of people. Apparently in the summer there is a open air fair for plants, herbs some food, etc. Stopped in but did not need any plants. Also as of June, 2014 the Market Cafe opened up inside the Square. Not big, but has a nice bar, nice talent there and atmosphere was nice.
