I've heard about this place for years and know this place is very hip and is really big with the brunch crowd. Happened to be in the area and decided to try it for the first time for dinner. I don't think there was anyone there, either eating or working, who was over the age of 30.
Service was very good, patient and timely. We never felt rushed.
Décor is very folksy. There's a very cute, working photo booth downstairs by the restrooms. There was no A/C in the restrooms, so they were stiflingly hot.
We tried the freshly baked flakey biscuits with butter and homemade strawberry jam. They were good. The house made organic ketchup was a bit bitter and needed more sugar. We wanted to order the brisket, but only fatty cuts were offered - it would be good if they could offer a lean option as well. We went with a burger and fries. The shoestring French fries were very good. The sautéed spinach was okay.
I also tried the Seasonal Vegetable Plate - consisting of asparagus, field greens, roasted baby carrots, garlic scapes and romanesco sauce. Despite being on the menu, there were no sugar snap peas on the plate. There were edible flowers included instead. The asparagus, carrots and romanesco sauce were good. I did not like the edible flowers and felt the field greens were too bitter. The vegetable plate was $24 and the burger (with added toppings) was $22. Hardly inexpensive for vegetable and a burger.
Not going to be rushing back. Maybe their brunch is better.
