Our daughter had told us about this Italian Restaurant a number of times, we finally made a reservation for Christmas Eve and the four of us went. Up towards Central Park on 61st and 2nd Ave, very unpretentious to look at as it is a downstairs location, but do not be put off by this, this place is a five star restaurant for the every day, and more people. Why bother with looking at the menu, the specials for the evening will blow you away. A full sevice bar can accomodate all your needs. From the Chef's welcome to the appetizers galore to the main course, or primo o secundo, or as in the case of our ten year old Grandson a special variation of Grilled Octopus and his own pasta dish, perfect. I can honestly say that what my daughter had already told me I must have was out of this world. Thye Dover Sole is huge, but so ligt it is not as filling as it looks and we both enjoyed our individual plates, superb is all I can say. If you go oreder this, as many do, you will not be disappointed. Dessert is a love for my wife and the Tiramisu was wonderful, what a way to start the Christmas others must have been of the same mindset as it was standing room only.

Food prepared exactly how we asked. Gracious service with no rush on a packed Saturday night with lots of energy. We'll always come back when we're in NYC.

Went there on Friday November 29. Walked in at 5 when they were opening. Was seated right away, no one was in the restaurant at first. Was very busy when leaving at 7. Pretty close seating but it wasn't that bad. Very attentive waiters, only negative would be that there were a lot of specials not on the menu that was hard to remember everything they were offering. I had ravioli stuffed with sea bass, it was very good. We also has veal chop which was the best I've ever tasted . Had 4 drinks, 2 apps, 2 meals , 1 dessert, bill was $265 plus tip. Kind of pricey but would go back.

We found this amazing restaurant after Serendipity was on a 2 hour wait. We were a party of 7 and it was for lunch on a busy November Saturday. There was a 3 course lunch special for $29.00 that was amazing. The first course of clams and mussels, pollenta and "eggplant parm" were all delicious. The homemade calarmari was so tender and perfectly seasoned. The second course of chicken stuffed with prosciutto and cheese was just mouth watering. The pasta dishes were fabulous ( homemade pasta with pesto) The ravioli was good, just not filled with ricotta cheese ( which we are familiar with) The desserts were a perfect way to celebrate our nieces 13th birthday. The waiter and staff were gracious and helpful and accommodated our table with water, bread and anything else we asked for. We were so glad that serenditpity had a 2 hour wait because now we have a spot that we can return to on our next visit to NYC.

Went here last night for a 8:30 reservation. Upon arrival the staircase was packed with people (clearly a fire hazard). We checked in with the hostess who was cold and rude. She told us the wait was 1 hour even though we had a reservation!! So what's the point of a reservations I ask?! We checked back in a few times with her and finally at 9:15 she told it was still a 1 hour wait - unreal! There where about 5 other parties waiting - hearing the same nonsense from the hostess. It's obvious they knowingly grossly overbook the restaurant. We ended up leaving at 9:15 and walked to Smith & Wollensky about 10 blocks away for nice civilized meal. I will never go back to Scalinutella - overall they are rude, pompous and unaccommodating. With so many fabulous places in NYC why deal with their BS?!?

PS - I have dined here before in the past and the food was decent. It appears service has gone down hill big time.
