The restaurant is perennially ranked at the top of Zagat Survey’s ‘Most Popular’ list, and has garnered eight James Beard Awards including ‘Outstanding Restaurant’ and ‘Best Chef: NYC’. Chef Michael Anthony’s highly seasonal menu consists of elegant dishes with a rustic influence that showcase the restaurant’s relationships with local farms and purveyors. The Main Dining Room serves prix-fixe menus starting at $92 for dinner and an a la carte menu for lunch, and accepts reservations 28 days in advance. Absolutely amazing. Our server Daisy was fantastic. Service could not have been any better.
(We received better service than at Jean George and Le Bernardin)

“Best Meal Out Ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2012

We ate here for my birthday in April 2012.
We had the Tasting Menu, and it was exceptionally good.

I won't go into huge details, but the stand-out dishes were the Smoked Hake Salad, Soft-shell Crab, Braised & Sirloin Flat Iron (beef), and the two desserts we tried; Peanut Butter Semi-Freddo, and Carrot Cake.

The whole evening from beginning-to-end was superb.
We had a lovely cocktail at the bar (amazing atmosphere and decor), and were then lead through to the Dining Room.
The atmosphere in there was perfect for couples, as it wasn't too quiet (but quieter than the bar area) as there were plenty of larger tables (business most probably) which created a good buzz.

As is so often the case in NYC, the service was incredible (it's alwayas nice to be congratulated on your choice of wine-to-food pairing!), without being overly intrusive.

It was not a cheap meal, but if you're into your food, go here and enjoy; you will not be disappointed.

“Holy $hit--can you have a better food fare anywhere else? (NOT)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2012

we were the guests of a friend and we had a blast. Service par none. Wine selection (from whihc our host selected an Austrian Reisling and then a Prager Pinot) was really great.

Food courses run the full gammet and the portions are perfect for grazing one's way thru the menu' pork belly, carpaccio and then main course.

Id return tomorrow if i were still going to be here.

“Excellent dessert”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2012

I feel my meal was okay, but the dessert really is what stood out. I would have to say it was among some of the best dessert I have had at a restaurant. Its a very crowded place though, so reservations are a must.

“Superb!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 June 2012

Went here for lunch as a result of someone's recommendation and am I ever glad I listened. Yes recommendations were required.

The service was excellent and the food delicious. For the first course, my date and I shared an appetizer. For our second course we had the pork croquette and braised lamb. We asked the waiter to suggest a glass of wine to accompany each dish and boy were we surprised when he brought out two glasses of complimentary wine for us to enjoy with our first course. The surprise mini desserts to accompany our espresso and tea were thoroughly enjoyed.

I would definitely return.
