“Not What I Expected”
Reviewed 26 October 2013

We are pretty low key when it comes to dining but this place really needs a makeover. The décor is very dated but that's really not a problem. Food was just so so. Kind of cookie cutter Italian. More so, the clientele tells the story. I don't think there was a person in the restaurant under the age of 50 aside from my two adult children. It strikes me as a place that thrived for many years in the past but has seen its time and now needs to possibly move on. There were a number of empty tables and even the waiters seemed as though they were going through the motions. Not a place I would return to.

“Fantastic Food, Authentic Dining Experience”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

The food was simply divine, enjoyed throughly by both the children and the adults in our family party. We went principally with the recommendations of the owner...we were not disappointed. The atmosphere was perfect, a classic Italian-New York experience with very friendly staff in a wonderfully authentic restaurant. We found this restaurant by chance, slightly off the beaten track in Chinatown. I'd definitely recommend seeking it out as places like this tend to be confined to the memory or the past nowadays. The most important thing for any restaurant to get right is the food and these guys do this 110%. They just happen to have a lot more going for them too...

“Old School NY Italian”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

Timeless New York Italian Restaurant. This place probably hasn't changed much since it opened in the 40's. Great pasta and veal dishes and the house Chianti in awesome. Now I know why this was my grandfather's favorite Little Italy restaurant.

“Meet a real life "good fella"!”
Reviewed 19 October 2013

Met up with some old friends based on a recommendation here. We showed up late on a Sunday and the dining room was closed so we ate in the bar. Wise choice! Ross the bartender was awesome! Just what you would expect in this type of establishment. Friendly, funny and welcoming. He made all our dinner choices for us based on what we like and his questions.
The food was pretty good. The atmosphere was 100% authentic, I felt like Joe Pesci and Robert Deniro would to step into the bar any moment.
We had the veal saltimboca, manicotti with pesto and putanesca which wasnt on the menu but they whipped it up anyway.
Couple caraffes of wine and the bill for four came to <$150. Eat here. For the experience alone. Sit in the bar, Ask for Ross. Tell him we sent you!
