“Like Cuban food?”
Reviewed 31 May 2014 via mobile

Check out this cafeteria style hole in the wall for great beef and chicken dishes and fantastic black beans. Very much a local place in Midtown. Might be your best meal in the city.

“Good stuff”
Reviewed 20 April 2014 via mobile

This was great stuff. It was described to me as a "hole in the wall" and it is...but that's all part of the experience. You can go to Applebee's or McDonalds or drop $400 at some "wine bar and cafe"... But you aren't going to get a better meal then here and at a fraction of the price.

“Our favorite little breakfast place in NYC”
Reviewed 11 February 2014

We love this little place which is next door to the hotel we usually use in New York, The Muse. We'll have breakfast there most mornings since you can get two eggs, potatoes and Cuban toast along with cafe con leche for maybe 5 bucks a person. The Cuban toast is Cuban bread, kind of like a sweeter version of baguette with the texture of Italian bread. They slice this crosswise, butter it and then put in in the sandwich press. Ask for it well done and its even better. Staff is super friendly, atmosphere is basic but we do love it. On our way out of town we ordered up two media noches, a Cuban specialty that means "middle of the night" as in snack. Ham, pork, swiss, pickles and mustard on Cuban bread in the sandwich press. Took it on the train going home and enjoyed a delicious lunch on the go.

“Cuban dive a hidden gem!”
Reviewed 4 January 2014

This midtown Cuban dive spot is the place to get Big Bang for your buck! Daily specials with meat of the day, rice, beans from $7-$10. Lunch line is long so get there early. Oxtail is very good, chicken was yummy. Ask for the yellow rice and get plantains with your plate. Get your food to stay or go. Say hello to Edgar and get a big smile back!

“Great Latin Food & Cafe Con Leche!”
Reviewed 30 November 2013

Found this place on YELP - think it's a tiny, family owned business. It's so tiny we missed it walking down the street and had to turn back around. Glad we turned around because this was exactly what we were looking for breakfast. Eggs, bacon, potatoes, tostada, cafe con leche - Yum. This place was cheap for NYC in the Theater District. We definitely paid less than $20 for breakfast including the tip. We saw them making the Cuban sandwiches before we left and ended up coming back there for lunch. We ordered the Cuban Sandwich and it was really good too. They offer a lot of traditional dishes cafeteria style like arroz con gandules and pernil. They gave us a free sample of some chicken drummette which I really enjoyed too. If we would have found it earlier in our trip, I'm sure we would have eaten there again!
