Description: Cellini’s culinary style of chic simplicity produces a menu of astounding freshness and creativity. We began with a masterful rendition of cornmeal polenta wedges with masses of slivered shitake mushrooms and a calamari salad garnished with beans and scallions, each set off with a hot, homemade foccacia, augmented with sliced crusty Tuscan bread. We next chose panzotti-supple half moon pasta filled with fresh, crisp vegetables lightly bathed in a delicate porcini mushroom sauce. A unique tubular pasta stuffed with the freshest fish and spinach under a seasoned fish stock was enough to show us that each dish here has its own personality, and is densely concentrated with flavor.

I was here for a large group dinner. The Chianti being poured was horrible and luckily we managed to get the to boring out a better Sangiovese. My Mozzarella, pepper and tomato salad was good but my penne pasta with shrimp and scallops lacked scallops and the sauce was pasty and somewhat tasteless.

Typically New York in its layout, with tables so close it's virtually impossible to have an intimate conversation with others at your table. Fortunately, they made it up with the quality of the meal. Food was expertly prepared. Service was efficient, but sometimes the waiters hovered. Overall, though, an enjoyable meal.

The food was very good, but not excellent. The bartender made a nice Manhattan and the house chianti was very nice. Service was attentive without being overbearing and the atmosphere was quite good. Tables placed too close for truly private conversation, but over all a nice vibe and I'd recommend going if you are staying in midtown (but not good enough as a destination on its own).

I eat at Cellini's fairly often and I have never been disappointed. The food is consistently good. The chef will make whatever you want without any hesitation so feel free to tailor the menu to suit your needs. The bread is fresh and there is always more than one type to choose from. The chef sends out a plate with a few things on it to start. I had dinner at Cellini's last night. The plate from the chef had olives, a few chunks of a very high quality parmesan cheese and some toasted bread with tomato, onion and basil on top. Next, I had the Bianca salad. It was all white in color--mushrooms, fennel, artichokes, hearts of palm, and endive topped with shaved parmesan. I had a side of broccoli rabe that was not bitter in any way--really good-- and I had the eggplant appetizer for my main course. The eggplant was not breaded, it was very light and it was delicious. The ingredients at Cellini are always very, very fresh. The service is great. The atmosphere is nothing special and the patrons are a bit packed in. Don't choose to eat at Cellini if you need privacy because the people sitting next to you will hear everything that you have to say. So, if you want delicious food in midtown Manhattan with attentive service and you don't mind being a little short on space, eat at Cellini's. You will not be disappointed.

Decided to eat here last night after looking at several places. Glad we did. Nice small but loud restaurant with good wine selection as well. Service was good and prompt, only downfall I have it was very loud, and tables were very close to each other. Otherwise a very nice experience.
