The food was fairly good but ... that doesn't make up for the nothing-special atmosphere, extremely small portions and the rush to clear the table. All in all poor value. More of a bar trying to be a trendy restaurant.

Had heard lots of claptrap glowing reviews but it all all disappointed. Combinations that didn't work (the mango and crab tastes like wet cardboard and cat food), total lack of flavours etc. Irritatingly loud. Positively, nice staff and decent drinks. But really not worth a second look in.

Don't be intimidated by the hip decor--this restaurant is not to be missed! With an amazing drink menu--and bartenders who can create any flavor profile you desire--and a menu that has something for everyone, run don't walk to make your reservation! For a table of 5 we did a bunch of small plates and everyone left satisfied and looking forward to a return trip! The food is so phenomenal you'll forget you're not actually south of the border!

Had a lovely meal and were well looked after by our waiter here. Had to wait until 9.45pm for a table, but it was worth it. Great upmarket mexican food with some interesting flavours/combinations. (I was recommended the spicy cucumber margarita, which was utterly bizarre - but delicious!)

We had high expectations for this restaurant given Chef Alex Stupak's background with Alinea and wd~50, and we were not disappointed at all on the food front.

The cuisine was Mexican in terms of base flavours and elements, however taken to the next level in terms of creativity, presentation and ingredients. The highlight was the "Squid" starter with Chilmole and sour orange mayonnaise - what amazing taste and visuals! Likewise with the "Sliced Mango" starter with crab salad and lime foam, which resembled a plate of flowers. The mains also all had wonderful flavours - tacos with ceviche and pastrami, and toasted vermicelli noodles with clams and chorizo.

The only negative was the atmosphere - the restaurant was extremely crowded with a large number of tables crammed into a rather small space. The end result was an extremely noisy environment in which it was near impossible to have a conversation, with customers and waiting staff frequently squeezing by your table. At any regular Lower East Side bar, this would be the norm. However we felt that the great food deserved so much more in terms of its setting, which detracted from the overall dining experience. We were a few blocks up at Momofuku ko the previous evening, and that was a great example of combining Lower East Side vibe with great food.
