“Great last minute find!!”
Reviewed 14 August 2014 via mobile

My mom and I weren't planning on staying in New York for the night but booked the marriott the morning of. The price was very reasonable and the staff were really great! Everything is within walking distance which saved money not having to use the subway. Check in time was 4:00 but we were able to check in at 1:00. We loved the added security of not being able to use the elevator unless you had and active room key! We will definitely be staying here again when we go to New York.

Saw the pics of the bedroom and restroom on the website but was surprised to see how small the king-sized bedroom was in person. Granted this is Manhattan so I guess that's to be expected...but as soon as you open the door, the bed is right there...bathroom is very nice and spacious but wish the bedroom felt the same. When we went to sleep, it was difficult to fall asleep with the curtains not long enough to hide out the city lights outside (we were on the 21st floor). Didn't think this would bother me when I read another review stating the same but it did! Nor did the curtains extend themselves to hide the light when trying to close the curtains the entire way (so ambient light from the city was seeping in from the bottom of the window (horizontal line) as well as from the center (vertical line).

The linens didn't feel as thick or as crisp compared to other Marriott hotels within the same level. The comforter definitely needed some deep washing/bleaching, and towels didn't seem as thick or as white as the other Marriott hotels.

Glad we only stayed one night as I would have gone stir crazy if I were to stay another night.

One thing that I was really surprised about was that they didn't have "express check out," where a bill wasn't conveniently located at the door that someone usually slips under the door. So when we left 5 minutes before checkout, turns out we had to stand in a long line of other patrons who did the same just to checkout. There were 2 staff members at the front desk so we had to stand in line (which can get uncomfortable quickly b/c the lobby - although nice - is quite small).

Then I happened to ask about whether the local parking garages had penalty fees for lost garage tickets and she was helpful in that if I had the actual ticket, she could stamp it so we could get a discount! For other travelers planning to stay at this hotel, you can get a discounted garage rate (may depend on the garage) IF you ask. They will stamp your garage ticket and there you go. We weren't able to use the stamp since we lost the ticket but we still got a discount since we printed a coupon for $35 ($10 off) for 24 hrs at Icon Parking, which was about a minute's walk.

Also, if you plan on staying out late, coming back to this area from Time Square/Theatre District, it can get really dicey walking at night to get back to this hotel...we shuffled and walked very fast, trying to stay close to other groups when we could.

Other observations:
There was a cute little see-through "fridge" that can carry about 3-4 of your typical sized water bottles and a modern safe right above it. Within the same closet, you can hang a few shirts but nothing long.

We have stayed at Marriott Courtyard Times square West in 26-29 July. Generally good location and large and spacey rooms. Walking distance to Times Square, especially it is good at night time. Breakfast quality is not so good. Staff is nice and friendly. A little too expensive for its value. You can choose this hotel if you can not find any nearby hotel for a better price.

Room Tip: You can choose the floors where there is water and ice tanks- not existing at every floor

All staff was so helpful and polite! James the Bellman was our favorite and helped us on our lovely vacation!! We had a great time in New York!!
The only downside was the Starbucks closed at 10:30am in the morning. Was in need of that extra caffeine to get us through our day!

Spotless hotel and consistent with the courtyard brand, close to transport (penn st station, direct subway from JFK Howard beach), some good diners close by and a decent bar just down the street. reception staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for us. i will definitely hunt this hotel out again for future stays.

Wow clean, comfy, friendly and close to all. Greeted Friday evening with complementary drinks, a very helpful doorman and many friendly faces. Gave great dinner suggestions and assisted with subway and cab requests. Would come back here again.
