We stayed in NYC for 6 nights. Location is excellent. Just at time square. Every thing is at walking distance from the hotel. Room was decent size. Service was good too. Would recommend this hotel for sure. Staff is nice and help full. Only would not advise any one to take breakfast included package. There is a lot of variety to eat outside whereas the breakfast in this hotel is fixed to just 3 choices daily. Its the same every day. Good stay on the whole.

Room Tip: Please choose a room on higher floor. Lower floors attract noise from outside.

We just spent the weekend in New York and, as we usually do, looked for a Marriott to stay in as we have had very good experiences with this hotel chain. Not so this time, unfortunately.

The pros: The hotel is easy to reach from Penn Station (5min walking distance), very conveniently located for exploring the city and the staff was cheerful and friendly. The room was clean although small.

The cons: Our AC was broken and dripping, so that a huge part of the carpet in front of the AC was soaking wet. Basically, we could not use the area between the window and the bed, like 1/3 of the room. To be honest, I don't even understand how this could have gone unnoticed when the room was being prepared for the next guest. The hotel sent someone from engineering who fixed the AC. This was very awkward and very uncomfortable for us as I was trying to put my toddler to bed while the AC needed to be completely dismantled, cleaned and the pipes sealed afterwards. The man from engineering (who really did a good job, I have to say) told us that a room change would be addressed in the morning or blowers would be set up to dry the carpet. Neither of the two happened. When we came back the next day the carpet was still wet. When I asked about a different room or a discount, we were told that the hotel was booked out and that a discount was not possible because we already had a discounted rate (AAA rate).

So, in other words, because we booked at the AAA-discount rate, we were expected to put up with a wet room that was only partially useable and with repairs at night. Had I known this, I would have rather spent a little extra money to be comfortable - so be careful about the rates you book at.

The employee at the front desk mentioned she would talk things through with the hotel manager so we could at least get extra reward points for the Marriott rewards program, but this did not happen, either.

All in all, a good place to stay if there is no trouble with the room. If something does not go as planned, nobody cares at all.

Room Tip: The windows are poorly insulated against sound and some night club appears to be playing really loud...

We needed an overnight stay while in town to see "Motown." I did my research on good value NYC properties and found Courtyard Marriott West at $199 excluding tax on Marriott and other Websites. We parked at Port Authority and walked a few blocks to the hotel. Front desk service was excellent. The young man's last name was Lew. This new hotel has small rooms bur they're comfortable, clean and well located. We were on the 16th floor and street noise didn't bother us but those pesky police/ambulance sirens. Hey, it's New York! The king-size bed was very comfortable. We had sandwiches and watched Little League Baseball in their nice room with multiple televisions. My tuna sandwich was a little salty but still good. As in New York, the prices were high but you expect that when visiting "the City." My wife and I agreed that this will likely be our regular hotel when we visit the Theatre District.

Room Tip: Up high and away from elevators.

Thank you for choosing Courtyard by Marriott Times Square West for your short one night stay with us. We are happy to hear our staff, particularly Henry took care of your needs. We hope you enjoyed the Motown play, it is a great show. We are glad you enjoyed our Bistro Lounge, sorry about the saltiness of your tuna sandwich. We look forward to seeing you again on your next trip to New York, hopefully you can stay longer to enjoy New York City.

We totally enjoyed our stay at the Courtyard by Marriot Time Square West hotel. The room was very nice and clean and the staff was pleasant and helpful. In particular, James the Bellman was very helpful. He was constantly available and always eager to provide recommendations on things to do and places to eat. All his recommendations were spot on. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We recently stayed here for a short break to celebrate a birthday. The hotel is conveniently located but without the noise you can experience at other hotels. The rooms are not very big but when you spend most of the time sight seeing it doesn't matter. The hotel is bright and clean, the beds comfortable (much needed after a full day walking) and the staff are very friendly and polite. I have nothing negative to say and would definitely book again myself and recommend to anyone who is visiting New York.

Room Tip: We stayed on the 26th floor so very quiet.

This place was very friendly and helpful from the entire staff. There were some usual bad customers running around but I found the staff friendly, helpful and always polite. The food there was good and convenient and the wait staff very nice. I would stay there again if I was going to be in that area of Manhatten.

Room Tip: Higher floors are the best overall value in my opinion.

My complaint about this hotel is not about its cleanliness or its staff. On these counts it is a first rate hotel.

It is the presence of a first rate hotel in a rat infested slum that I find so puzzling. The building itself was ancient and the rooms, while clean, were exceptionally small. The view out the window reminded me of the slum scenes from the Cagney/Bogart gangster movies of the 1930's.

Leaving the hotel and walking a few feet to the east brings you to the corner of 37th and 8th streets which you find strewn with garbage. Here you will find a "pastry store", if home on the range is where the buffalo roam this is where the rats roam. The sidewalks in the half mile between this hotel and Times Square are packed with garbage from various eateries in which the rats don't just roam, they run rampant and nobody seems to care or even notice for that matter. They dart from the sewers not in ones or two's but in packs of 3,4,5 and more, racing across the sidewalk and into the piles of garbage at which point the bags themselves seemed to jump to life. After a very short time they dart back out and more come running in.

With all these rats running around outside I find it hard to believe that there is any shortage of them running around inside the buildings too.

Thank you for taking the time to share with us your feedback regarding your stay with us. We are happy to hear you enjoyed our property and our staff provided excellent service to you as a guest of our hotel. We are a brand new hotel only one year old and have all the modern amenities for our guests. We are sorry to hear you had some issues with the location of our property. The Times Square area is New York's most famous attraction and like most cities, part of these areas do have difficulties and challenges in maintaining a clean environment. We hope this does not discourage you in visiting our wonderful city in the near future.
