A weekend escape took us back to Palio, a fave restaurant of ours for some years. The bar continues to impress, as does the food. The tuna tartare takes a Nothern Italian slant with grilled, smoked eggplant and the veal chop was out of this world. The wine list has a wide range. The place is loud and brash, and the service is a little too absent for the standard of quality of food and style. Why can't NY restaurants give polished service, without the attitude? The experience would have been excellent, but impatient service detracts. All in all, a good experience, but I guess we've just come to expect this type of treatment from Gotham restaurants.
