Description: A favorite neighborhood restaurant for those in the know. Not only is the food good but the people-watching is terrific. Our warm friendly staff welcomes locals like Henry Kissinger, Ralph Lauren and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg plus assorted Upper East Side beauties. Specializing in the fabulous flavors of the Amalfi coast, selections include delicious risottos, osso bucco, specialty pasta, as well as more exotic fare like roasted lamb garnished with balsamic vinegar and rosemary. Delectable home made desserts along with an extensive wine list. Soft hand-painted ochre colored walls, sensually sweet background music and attentive service provide a memorable dining experience at this distinctively chic restaurant.

“Great food that is always consistent and delicious”
Reviewed 30 December 2013

Have had dinner here many many times over the 15 years that Il Riccio has been here, and I must say I have enjoyed each and every meal. Yes, it can be a bit cramped and loud, BUT the food is terrific and puts me in a good mood every time I have eaten here. The 3 owners try their hardest to make your meal a memorable one. Whether it's their old reliable veal parm, or one of their many nightly specials such as their superb vegetable lasagna, the chef and kitchen know how to put forth a memorable meal.

“hidden jewel”
Reviewed 23 June 2013

The restaurant in as narrow as the 6 line that snakes up the east side of manhattan. Don't let that fool you. At the end of the line is a small outdoor garden with a skylight. so pretty. Don't let that fool you. the food is perfect as is the service. pastas are al dente and pitch perfect. fish is sweet and moist. breaded eggplant tastes like eggplant not something hidden under a thick glop of goo. service is attentive but not obsequious. dessert tarte of blueberry was fresh, sweet and well deserved because I was the one who found this diamond!

“Semi-authentic Italian in a city full of great Italian”
Reviewed 2 March 2013

This is an old school Italian restaurant that does an adequate job delivering its menu's promise. Our apps were decent, a crab and arugula salad and a nice scallop and bean dish. The gnocchi was nothing to write home about and the grilled whole branzino was quite good. Prices were reasonable for the neighborhood and service was above average.

“Elio's Wannabe Doesn't Come Close”
Reviewed 15 September 2012

Il Riccio is a small italian neighborhood restaurant awkwardly located on busy 79th Street on Manhattan's East side. The restaurant has only a small number of tables and diners sit uncomfortably along the walls of the railroad style room in the front or are "sentenced" to the claustrophobic back room. On all counts, service, food quality, graciousness of the host, it pales in comparison to consistently excellent neighborhood restaurants such as Elio's, Nicola's and Lusardi's. There is no shortage of excellent Italian on the East Side and you need not submit to the lesser offering here. If you do, avoid the specials which are "pushed" aggressively as the evening progresses. The insights of the staff are to be avoided. You can do better yourself. Finally, keep it simple - order the basics.
