“Trendy Cafeteria-style, NOT Horn & Hardart”
Reviewed 27 January 2012

I was too tired to go anywhere else for dinner (I was staying in the Hudson Hotel), so opted for the house restaurant. Great waitress. Food was very good and considering it was NYC, about average price--$10 for an excellent baby beet salad artfully arranged; $18 for tuna tartare...very fresh. Food is supposed to be cafeteria/tapas style, but a slow crowd the night I was there meant most dishes were prepared to order. Only drawback on the maple egg custard was that I would have used "B" grade maple syrup, which has stronger maple flavor; the custard was first-rate. My margarita was not; too much tequila obliterated the fresh lime juice; I prefer a balanced drink.

Trendy/funky decor, but as someone once said, "You can't eat the decor." More choices would have been nice, but what limited fare there was was decent.

BTW, does anybody remember Horn & Hardart's?

“Great decor not great food...”
Reviewed 25 July 2009

Great to enjoy a very cool looking place but not for the food. We were here for lunch there were not many options on the menu and we ended up having just a club sandwich and the tuna burger. There was nothing special about them. Service was good but the place was almost empty. For that price there are many better options in the city.
