The Scotto family have it nailed for excellent service and food. They are famous and live up to their reputation.

Momma Scotto ,The Boss, personally manned the hostess station answered the phone and it was just a Tuesday night! She always had a smile on her face !

“Recommended! ”
Reviewed 15 July 2014 via mobile

I ran in to this restaurant by accident and it was no problem to get a table. I'm allergic to gluten and dairy, and this was no problem here. They have gluten-free pasta and their sorbet is fresh and fantastic! The portion is huge and not to expensive if you are used to Norwegian prices :) they offer to wrap the leftover in a bag for you and I did, and on my way to the hotel I offered it to someone begging on the street, which happily accepted it.

“Get ready to MANGIA!”
Reviewed 30 June 2014

This was my husband and my favorite meal while in NYC on our honeymoon. My Sicilian mother-in-law recommended this restaurant to us, so we knew we were in for a great, traditional Italian meal - and that is exactly what we got! The service was friendly, and made us feel very special after they found out we were in the city celebrating our wedding. We were so glad to make Fresco our first date night out as a married couple. Definitely recommend! And will be going back!

“Fresco is a premier New York restaurant for lunch in midtown”
Reviewed 5 June 2014

These people, the Scotto's, know what they are doing. The staff work like a symphony at the peak of the lunch hour, and they better, being situated in the middle of one of the busiest business districts in the world - and one with the highest standards at that. Waiters, staff and managers, go in and out of the kitchen through two small doors like bees in a hive - and never miss a beat and never so much as bump one another. It's something to see! The food however is even more impressive. The menu is varied from staples in terms of salads and soups, to fairly involved Italian recipe's, with many delectable specials to choose from every day. The Ceasar Salad with grilled chicken, served chopped, is spectacular - the bread the wine - all up to top New York standards. Weather for business or pleasure, you won't be disappointed - these people know what they're doing and you will get the "family" vibe that they put off - it's their business - their name - they care - and it shows. I get the impression the staff is family too! One caveat - they won't seat you until all of your party are present - and you may have to wait a few minutes even with reservations - it is packed most days but again - they know how to keep it comfortably moving! Enjoy!

“Decent Midtown old-school Italian”
Reviewed 4 June 2014 via mobile

Have eaten here a couple times - while Italian is the #1 favorite "food" in America, seems the vast majority of Italian restaurants are either small mom & pops, mid-level places; Olive Garden; or some sort of Mediterranean fusion (think: San Francisco). Nothing against those, but sometimes old school white tablecloth Italian hits the spot. Amazingly, few of those are around. Frescos definitely does a decent job. Upscale and expensive but a decent midtown eatery. Wish it had a better bar to sit at.
