“Great spot for dinner”

Short walk from Times Square. Service was friendly and menu has great choices. One of the better restaurants in the Hells Kitchen area.

“Good but below expectations”
Reviewed 4 September 2012

In July we visited Cara Mia prior to an evening theater performance. Our choice was based on
TA and other reviews and proximity to the theater. We were not surprised at the close tables
and very crowded conditions. It was a Saturday evening, and our reservations gained us a
table in surprisingly quick fashion. The servers were obviously extremely busy, but our orders
were taken without great delay. We ordered an antipasti to share, the calamari, and it was
reasonably prepared. However, our bottle of wine order got lost in the shuffle and was very
late in the meal when delivered. Our entree choices were a bit disappointing, due to the very
heavy, and rather greasy sauces on our two pasta dishes. Other than the wine delay, the other
service was good and timely.

Over the years we've eaten in a number of Italian trattorias in NYC, and some have been OK,
some really good, and some good but nothing special. We place Cara Mia in the latter
category. The price and quantity are what we expected, but the quality was just a bit below
what we expected. We probably would not return when seeking a restaurant in the theater

“Amazing food, great prices!”

Four of us were walking around Hell's Kitchen when a local suggested we eat at Cara Mia. What a find. Delicious Italian food, wonderful service, traditionally Italian ambiance. We would go back!

“Nice prix-fixe lunch menu”
Reviewed 13 July 2012

We had a very good experience at Cara Mia on Wednesday, July 11, 2012, where we had lunch before a matinee. Service was fast and friendly. My water glass was never empty. The food was very good and was well worth the $15.95 for three courses. The bread was fresh and served with a tasty extra vigin olive oil. I had the pork satimbocca and my friend the chicken piccata. We were both satisfied (sauteed spinach was just like mom used to make). The ricotta cheesecake was creamy and fresh.

“Fav Italian Restaurant in NYC”
Reviewed 9 July 2012

Love love love this place! It takes me back to Italy the minute I walk in....The staff treats you like royalty. My boyfriend and I went there on a busy Friday night needing to make it to an 8:00 show--they were fantastic. Very friendly and at the same time the food came out right after it was made. We had the CALAMARI ARROSTO----Sooooo Good!! And we each had different specials---you can't really go wrong here with the food. The pasta is homemade and we can't wait to go try more dishes there. Highly recommend---easily walk-able if you are headed to broadway. Might need to call for reservations---very worth it!
