Seated right away. Waited a while for someone to bring us a menu. Once we ordered our food was out within minutes...crazy fast!! Had to ask for water refills several times.

We mad ethe trip to Chinatown from Times Square just for the soup dumplings. It was late Sunday night and very busy but we were seated promptly. It did take a while to get a server but we were in no hurry. Ordered the soup dumplings -one of each kind - pork and crab with pork. Also ordered the pork fried dumplings. They all came out in about 2 minutes. The waitress never came back until we were finished so had to flag down 2 different servers for forks and soda. They could improve on service in that way but in fast and good food, there is no comparison. Food was SUPER and we will be dreaming about these soup dumplings! Can't wait to go back!

Okay, so the service is almost nonexistent, and when one finally is served, curtness could easily be seen as rudeness. But, taking that into consideration, the soup dumplings are out of this world and quickly make me forget the service lapses. They are known as "tiny dumplings" on the menu (I believe the crab are #1, and the pork are #2 on the menu), and my husband and I always accompany the dumplings with the #63 spicy meat noodle -- and that's enough to feed both of us a satisfying lunch at an incredibly low cost. Oh, be sure to take cash -- Shanghai Café does NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS!!!!

The staff we're so rude it was unbelievable. An older lady sat next to us and was bullied about her choice, plus two young ladies sat to our right and we're ignored for 40 minutes. A lady in the window ha her hand up for ten mins before anyone helped her. Our mains came before the dim sung and frankly it was poor. So don't eat here and join us in not tipping they need to learn! The guy had a stand up row with me about not taping and I explained its a choice if if you have poor, rude service you don't get more than I owe you.
