Description: We are a Classic American Steakhouse in the heart Greenwich Village. Wood panel walls, and comfy booths, give the feel of an earlier era. In business for over 40 years, serving Great American Fare and our Famous 28 oz T Bone Steaks. We feature Live Jazz on Friday and Saturday Evenings starting at 9:00 till 1:00. Harry Connick Jr. got his start at the Knick. We have our share of local celebrities from Chris Noth, Alec Baldwin, F. Murray Abraham, Josh Charles, Jessica Lange, just to name a few. Good Food & Good Jazz is what we are. Most items are all made on premise, from house made desserts, ice creams and sorbets, to our house made pastas and house smoked salmon, and our popular Caviar Pie. We pour a good drink at reasonable prices, as are our portions of food. Our T Bone Steaks include creamed spinach and mashed potatoes.

Great atmosphere and very good service. But the steak was not as tender as one would expect at those prices. And the all American cheese cake was not well prepared. Too dry and too big.

It was graduation weekend at NYU so the place was swarming with family visitors. Knickerbocker was great. We booked ahead and had a great side booth table. Waitress was efficient and approachable which is all you need. The steaks are ridiculously enormous - one could easily share between 2. I found the place to be good value and liked the ambience.Would return.

This was my third visit to the Knickerbocker in 24 years and amazingly it's been very nice each time. Nice, relaxed casual dining just 3 blocks from Washington Square. We had brunch, everything was great and our waiter was very attentive.

Good atmosphere even thought it's crowded seating. Monkfish was rubbery, sauce was soupy. Waitress forgot to ever bring two people the drinks they ordered. We ordered the cookie for desert and she brought the souffle instead. When we arrived at 9 they were out of five or six menu items. Disappointing and inattentive service but friendly.

We were told this place was a throw-back to the 60s with amazing steaks, and that's what it is. Yes, the decor is dated, but the staff are great and the food - the steaks - are amazing.Three of us had the T-Bone which weighed in at 84 ounces. Suffice to say we finished the steak, but not the fries or creamed spinach, and desserts did not feature at the end for us. It's not a fancy uptown steakhouse, but it's not fancy uptown prices, and it's in am interesting part of town near NYU.

Very good value, and the steaks are cooked to perfection.
