“Boutique Hotel close to Washington Square”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

100 room boutique hotel within 2 blocks of Washington Square. Located also close to New York University. Lower East side.....walk everywhere....great restaurants, shopping , wonderful safe community. Hotel has lovely restaurant, a fire going in the inviting, comfortable lobby. The rooms are very small, but very nice. It reminds me of old European hotels. I loved the warmth, friendliness & community! Very quiet area....I am coming back here when I visit NYC! Cabs and subway available to anywhere in the city just outside.

Room Tip: Just ask for the larger, the better.......rooms in NY are not known for being large.........some are...

My husband and I stayed at The Marlton on our first and last nights of an east coast vacation. The location is terrific - close to NYU, Washington Square Park, shops and restaurants - although the restaurant in the hotel itself was really good. We had the complimentary breakfast there. there's a choice of juice, fruit and yogurt (which we both chose) or assorted pastries, both with coffee. Our room, 816, was clean, cozy with plenty of room enough for our luggage, and quiet. All the staff was extremely helpful. When I needed help printing my boarding pass from my Kindle, the front desk staff gladly helped me out. The lobby is charming and quite inviting. It's a great place to just relax and hang out. I would definitely stay there again.

Never expected to find a so beautiful hotel in the village.
The hall and the bar as so elegant and many people in the night drinking and talking as it is so nice staying there.
Our room was delicious, elegant and bed very comfortable, we enjoy our stay there.

Great hotel. This little gem is in a great location perfect for going up or down town. All around are cool cafes, bars, restaurants and the IFC (international film centre) a 3 min walk away so you can cath a cool indie film if you want to. perfect in summer to escape heat and relish the air con! So the hotel has a cute bar, a good little restaurant and a relaxed buzzy vibe. Rooms are small but perfect. clean and comfy beds and great shower. Staff are really nice and helpful. This hotel is a great price and you don't feel ripped off which i think in NY you can do a lot. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and I really recommend it.

Upon entering the hotel, you will feel as if you have stepped back in time. The common areas are well appointed and welcome the hotel's patrons to sit down and relax. There are two relatively large sitting areas with ample comfortable seating. The staff is equally as welcoming and helpful, from ensuring your luggage is cared for to suggesting local eateries. The rooms are very nice with just the right mix of old and new. The room size, though, is a bit of a shock, even if you are expecting small. While I am sure there are larger rooms in the hotel, my particular room had a full size bed (I knew this going in) that for all intents and purposes filled up the room. There was approximately 2 feet on either side of the bed and 4 feet in the front (half of which was occupied by an armoire). The bathroom door would not fully open because it hit the bed and there was little room for luggage. I rated the hotel as excellent because I believe it is unfair to give it lesser marks for amenities about which I should or could have known. But, I do believe everyone should know going in that he/she should inquire about the size of the room being booked. I was told later that if we had stayed longer than two nights, our room would have been larger.

In the end, the small room issue was overshadowed by the kind staff, location, price, and style. This hotel is a contender in Manhattan's luxury hotel market.

Room Tip: Not all "view" rooms have a nice view. If the view is important to you, inquire at booking...
