While still functional and barely keeping up with the 21 Century, this place appears to be in dire need of a facelift or complete redo. Unfortunately, local politics and greed are making this a project for the future.

A tiny postage stamp size city park with tourists, flowers in pots, a statue (Eternal Light Flagstaff), a fenced in dog park, on 5th avenue in Manhattan.

Situated at the beginning of Madison Avenue, Madison Square Park is a lovely respite from the noise and rush of manhattan. The paths meander throughout, with tons of benches for relaxing. If you are of a mind to stand in line, visit the Shake Shack and grab a quick milkshake (well - probably not quick on a nice day - the lines are always long).

From the park you can see the Flat Iron Building in all its glory, or take a quick trip across the street to Eataly, grab a "caffe" and head back to sip in gladed glory.

Went to a Knicks game and experienced the Insanity first hand. If you are a B ball fan the garden is mecca and we had a blast

I'll be the first to admit: there is nothing like Central Park. It is a New York landmark, it's home to some fantastic museums and it has a beautiful reservoir. But then....you have throngs of people who stand idle making it difficult to walk through. There are tons of vendors that line the edge of the park.

That is why I always prefer the relative quietness that is Madison Square Park. Anchored by 23rd St, Broadway and the beginning of Madison Ave, MSP provides great respite to those seeking nature in the urban jungle. Stroll along Broadway and admire the Flatiron Building in all its glory. Or behold 1 Madison Park and wonder one day when you will be able to afford such luxury. Until then, you have Madison Square Park.

Promenade along the winding, open paths or park yourself on a bench under a leafy tree and read a book. It really is a great place to unwind whether it's after lunch or after work. The iconic Shake Shack is also located in this park. Witness the line that snakes throughout the park and get yourself a chocolate milkshake.

For those that love green, but hate crowds, come visit Madison Square Park.
