“Great Manhattan option”
Reviewed 9 August 2014

I stayed with my wife and daughter for four nights at the Affinia in Manhattan. We were looking for a cost effective hotel in Manhattan that had two queen beds, which is tough to find in New York. We ended up at the Affinia and were very happy. The hotel is in a good location on the corner of 50th and 3rd. There are multiple subway stops within just a few blocks which makes exploring the city very easy.

We were on the 9th floor which has newly renovated rooms, which were large, especially for New York plus a decent sized bathroom. All of our dealings with staff were great. We had a small issue where one of our reading lights weren't working and someone came straight up to fix it. Also at 5:00 each day they have wine hour on the second floor, which is helps after a long day exploring the city.

Recommend the Affinia highly.

Just stayed with the affinia 50 for three nights for a shopping trip in nyc. Hotel located in a perfect location and felt very safe staying there with children. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Plenty of places to eat nearby.

Our room was very clean and beds very comfortable and although there was renovations still going on outside our window it didn't Impact us at all.

Would definitely recommend this hotel as a central safe and welcoming place to stay.

Room Tip: Rooms higher up less noise and also ask if air conditioner should make noise as soon as you get into...

Modern, nicely decorated, comfortable beds and pillows, large room (by NYC standards). Able to get room with 2 queen beds (unusual to find in NYC). Complimentary wine hour in the afternoon is nice touch. Convenient location. So a lot of good things. HOWEVER, our room -- particularly the bathroom -- constantly stank from stale cigarette smoke. Not sure if it was coming through the vents or just permanently in the walls, but it was very unpleasant. Didn't talk to hotel about this because I knew hotel was basically full and didn't want the time and hassle associated with trying to change rooms. Upon return home we noticed that all of our clothes (worn or not) smelled like smoke.

Thank you for your honest feedback following your recent stay at the Affinia 50 Hotel. I’m very happy to hear that you found our newly renovated rooms modern, comfortable and spacious enough for the whole family and that you enjoyed our nightly Wine Hour.

I am disappointed to hear that you didn’t thoroughly enjoy your stay and hope to have an opportunity to discuss your experience in further detail. I invite you to contact me directly via TripAdvisor Messenger. I look forward to speaking with you soon.

This hotel is upscale, modern and beautiful. They have a variety of room sizes and styles. The front desk staff were incredibly helpful. The rooms are modern with larger space than you normally get in a high rise hotel in a large city like NYC. The bathrooms were large as well. the common areas are warm and inviting. And overall for a hotel in NYC the cost was cheap!

Daughters and I were cruising out of New York on the Norwegian Breakaway and wanted a nice hotel convenient for shopping and dinner. I've stayed at the Affinia Dumont and was pleased so decided on the 50. We booked a junior suite and were upgraded to a one bedroom suite. It was very lovely, spacious and quiet and we were sorry we could only stay one night. This room has a balcony but is undergoing repair so it was not usable (might account for our free upgrade). We stopped by the happy hour and had a glass of wine and nibbles-nothing fancy but a nice gesture. We appreciated the coffee and free wifi in the club lounge. We walked to dinner, shopping and to the Belasco Theater. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The price was a little steep but it is New York and this was a last minute booking so some of our less expensive choices were not
available. Overall it was a great stay and I would highly recommend the 50.

Stayed for 1 night before leaving on a cruise. Was upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite. The room was very big and had a living room, dining room, and a separate kitchen as well as a big bedroom with 2 queen beds and a good sized bathroom. I especially enjoyed the lounge on the second floor with coffee and tea and the complimentary wine reception. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful! Great location! Would definitely stay there again!

I have stayed at the Affinia 50 before and really appreciated the space in the room, which is certainly at a premium in NYC. We do like to book a Suite with Kitchenette as it affords us enough space for our family and separate sitting area if someone wants to sleep in. Unfortunately that didn't happen this time as there was construction on the terrace. Management was very quick to deal with the issue and offered us a discount on the room, but we would have appreciated knowing in advance. I'm sure the terrace will be great once complete, but would recommend booking a room away from the construction until then.
We book here as it is far enough away from Time Square to get away from the chaos, but still close enough to walk to dinner and shows. Close to the subway station. Delicious bakery and also fresh fruit stand and market close by.
We received free wifi as a promotion with our online booking, but did have some trouble with it. Paid wifi is available.

Room Tip: Higher floors are further away from the street noise. Check that you are booking away from the const...
