Description: Set on Park Avenue South, between 28th and 29th Streets, Brasserie Les Halles serves a collection of classic dishes from the finest brasseries in Paris. The speciality of the house is the French Cuts of Meats, simply char-grilled and served with award-winning French Fries. Les Halles' long list of various steaks comes from the in-house butcher. The French butchering technique looks for unique qualities in each cut, providing different tastes and textures in each type of steak. Les Halles buys Prime American beef, naturally tenderised by two weeks of wet aging. The beef is then dry aged in-house for 21 days at 36-degrees Fahrenheit to concentrate the flavours. The original plaster mouldings in the restaurant date from the early 1900's, when the building was erected to house a restaurant specialising in healthy foods. The most famous menu item at the time - a blend of fresh vegetable juice to order - was later licensed and bottled under the brand V8! The large menu is designed to accommodate all tastes, appetites and budgets, and free Wi-Fi internet access is available throughout.

Unenthusiastic wait staff made the experience less than exciting for us. The Escargots were average but the onion soup was good. The NY Sirloin had amazing taste but the French fries tasted like broccoli and the side salad bland. The Scallops and burger were enjoyed by my husband and daughter but nothing to rave about. Couldn't get out of there fast enough as we didn't feel welcomed by the staff at all.

Once inside, it's like being transported to Paris for a couple of hours. Service was excellent....the maître d was most attentive as was our server. Due to heavy rain, we arrived early and were seated immediately. Fois gras....awesome! Hangar steak with shallot sauce was perfectly cooked and the award winning fries deserve the award! The wine list covered all the bases. The prices, given its Park Avenue address, were a pleasant surprise! Classic French bistro fare and atmosphere.

I love their French Onion soup. Not overpowering with onions and lots of cheese. Great menu choices. Been here for Brunch and dinner and have never been disappointed. Great service for large and small parties. Reservations recommended on holiday weekends especially. Only complaint I wish they bring back the meat platter. But all of our food was great.

This is a bustling, gathering place with great food and good pricing.
The french onion soup was wonderful and the steak and fries, which had come recommended, lived up to the billing. Tried the foie gras and it was also well prepared..We had a reservation but had to wait about 15 mins for the table- you get the impression they overbook and are usually crowded, hence all the noise. Service was friendly and attentive. If you prefer some place quiet, this brasserie won't do it for you.
