“Attentive staff”
Reviewed 5 February 2014

I recently stayed at this hotel, about a couple of weeks ago. I was greeted by a young man named Ryan who helped me bring my bags upstairs. I asked him about some local restaurants to go grab a bite and he made some good recommendations. He also told me about some cool hot spots to go dancing at night in the area. He seemed very friendly and down to earth. Overall, Ryan was a stand out staff member because he helped me feel welcomed.

Hi jewelzbx! Thank you so much for your kind review here on TripAdvisor. We love to get feedback from our guests and are so happy to hear that Ryan was able to help you out.
Hotel on Rivington is on a constant and never-ending "service crusade" to ensure our guests know they are valued and that we are committed to offering an excellent product with a helpful smile. Ryan is no exception. His kind greetings at the entrance of the building are as important as any other aspect of the hotel, so thank you for singling him out.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Hotel on Rivington anytime!

All the Best,
Adam

A couple years ago, I was looking to make one of the biggest decisions of my life in asking my girlfriend to marry me. We had already made our reservations at the Hotel On Rivington for a weekend in NYC and found the hotel after searching for top boutique hotels in the city.

The week before our trip I contacted the hotel management to do something special and they helped me arrange a surprise engagement using the stunning rooftop penthouse. The plan worked out perfectly, she said yes, we got married and returned to the hotel for our one year anniversary. This second stay at the hotel was made extra special by the very thoughtful hotel management who upgraded our room (to the exact one we stayed in before) and even sent a nice bottle to say thanks.

Everyone at the Rivington understands great guest experiences. From the friendly staff at the front door to the back of house staff to the management team. For this reason, it's the only place that I stay while in NYC for business or pleasure.

The location provides great access to everything going on in the LES and surrounding Burroughs; you can walk to SOHO or over the bridge to Williamsburgh or jump on the train to get anywhere in a matter of minutes. The rooms are well designed, comfortable and offer great views of NYC. The restaurant was a great choice to grab a quick drink before heading out for the night. If you are looking for a boozy brunch start to a Saturday or Sunday I would suggest walking a block over to the Essex for brunch.

Would recommend, and have recommended, this to anyone looking for a great place to stay in NYC.

stayed for four nights in Jan 2014. Great room with corner floor to ceiling windows giving fantastic views uptown and down town as long as you are high up (16 or above). Bed really comfy and shower also has floor to ceiling glass so you can even shower taking in the views! No coffee or tea making in the room but complimentary drinks in reception including wine in the afternoon.
Service good especially the doormen. Great base in lower east side with some good local bars and food - would recommend Essex Market restaurant for dinner and Tiny's Giant cafe for breakfast. Hotel has good airport transfer service a lot cheaper than we had pre booked with agent - only $52 which is same as taxi fare.

Room Tip: stay high (14 or higher) and corners with balconies are great .

Hi Martin S! Thank you so much for your review here on TripAdvisor! Those views from the shower can be pretty freeing. So glad you enjoyed the accommodations. :) Our doormen are all top-notch neighborhood guys who know the city and love to give their signature red carpet treatment. Tiny's is a neighborhood staple (so many great choices in the Lower East Side).
Thanks again! Hope to see you back on Rivington soon.

All the Best,
Adam

Stayed here on my wedding night and they lied to us and stole our money they charged us for a corner room suite and promised us a bunch of amenities and did not deliver.
They charged us over 600 dollars for a small dingy room and they were very rude to us I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

We went to New York for 7 nights staying in The Hotel on Rivington for 3 nights over New Years Eve.

Overall the hotel was lovely, comfortable and the service was generally great. We had a booked a king corner room with soaking tub which states it's on floors 9-18. Pot luck we got floor 9 so the views weren't that great even though that's what we'd decided to pay extra for.

When I asked the reception if there was anyway we could perhaps move up a few floors they said they'd get back to me but didn't. This was really disappointing as the room wasn't cheap.

Other than that it was lovely. I just would maybe make sure you specifically ask for a higher room before you go if that's what you want.

We loved this hotel! We had a spacious corner king with 2 walls of windows, balcony, and a great view. The room was larger than most NYC hotels and super clean. We loved the modern feel of the room. The mattress was memory foam which I happened to like but the man-panion was not so comfortable with. I could see where that could go either way but I felt like it was a plus. The bathroom was large and the shower was all glass. The room amenities were great and anything you wanted was in the mini-bar. The staff has a turn down service where they leave you fresh cookies! The staff in general are amazing and attentive. They even had a complimentary umbrella that you could use if it was raining right in your room. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash was great and a very large size. This hotel is right next to the Essex Market - where you can get whatever you want. I especially like Saxelby Cheese Mongers. The subway is not even 1/2 block away on delancey street right by the market. We will stay here again!!

Room Tip: stay on a higher floor for the view and lack of noise

Hi maj2007! Thanks for such a fabulous 5 Circle Review here on TripAdvisor! We love hearing from our guests and we are so pleased that you and your "man-panion" (HAHAHA!) enjoyed yourself. Our Tempur-Pedic beds are one of our biggest draws but I guess they are not for everybody. :) Those freshly baked cookies at turndown are just one of the ways our staff likes to say thank you. We believe the little touches are what makes Hotel on Rivington a home away from home for our beloved guests.

We would love to host you here again anytime!

We stayed here last summer and this hotel rocks. Amazing (latex) mattress. Very clean room. Incredible view we would watch the traffic on 3 bridges and all of lower east side from the 17th floor. We had a corner room with 2 walls of windows and a shower on the outside wall, and I would definitely recommend the upgrade to this accommodation for the extra bucks (and that is coming from a pragmatic cheap skate). The balcony itself, I am sorry to say, was a little too scary to spend much time on. You feel more or less like you are on one of those window cleaner platforms scaling the side of a sky scraper.
If you can get in here to a corner room in the 300 to 400 price range like we did, I can't expect you could have any regrets. Except, of course, it made us want to stay in the room more than we should - we were here to see the city from the street mostly, after all. Although the lobby of the hotel is very minimal, this lodging was definitely a place to make an impression.

Room Tip: Corner room, outside shower, high up.

Hi brian999! Im glad we made such an impression on you! A 5 Circle Review from one of TripAdvisor's Senior Contributors?! We must be doing something right. :)
I hope you got to see some of the city from the street view as well, so much fun to be had in the Lower East Side. Although it is pretty cool to take it all in from the comfy confines of a corner room above all the hustle and bustle of NYC.
We look forward to welcoming you again to Hotel on Rivington!

All the Best,
Adam
