Description: Shortly after the original Sant Ambroeus opened its doors in Milan in 1936, a devoted following emerged. This celebrated pasticceria and confetteria became the meeting place for the local intelligentsia, whether beginning their day with Sant Ambroeus’s legendary cappuccino and cornetto, savoring panini at lunch, or spending their evening enjoying refined cuisine in the restaurant’s elegant dining room. We translated these old-world sensibilities of Sant Ambroeus to modern times, and imported our rich culinary traditions to New York. Each of our restaurants remains authentic to our Milanese origins, and we continue to serve our culturally inspired delectables in a casual yet elegant environment.

“Excellent food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

My daughter and I went for a coffee and dessert one afternoon. Had a wonderful waiter, Dan in the front area. Coffee drinks, gelato and lemon tart were awesome. We liked it so much we returned for dinner. Very good quality food and perfectly seasoned. We had the lasagna and a spicy spaghetti, we shred both, so good!! then once more during our trip, brought the husband back. He had a fish, I had chicken and my daughter had the lasagna again. All was amazing, they have a top notch chef for sure! Expensive, but high quality. Will definitely return!

“Busy and enjoyable BUT at a price”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

We had been recommended to try this restaurant by some friends and it was busy from early morning to late at night and while we had an enjoyable meal and some great wine, it was at a price that the food and service did not match up to. The food was good the service was efficient and we had an enjoyable meal until the bill arrived, it was more expensive than our hotel restaurant and a Michelin Starred restaurant we ate in later that week. It does not offer that level of experience, so be aware of the prices before you book here

“A restaurant for breakfast, snack, coffee, sweets, breads and sandwiches, and DINNER!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2014

A first class small restaurant on Madison (and now downtown also) that serves everything you can imagine with an exceptional quality. Have lunch or dine there and you will see. But also just make a small stop and take, for instance, a typical Italian gelatto! Nothing better. It is worth experimenting. You will return very often.

“My hometown spot”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

I used to frequent Sant Ambroeus in Milan, Italy, as a child, The desserts were unsurpassed in my memory and the outpost of the traditional Milanese "pasticceria" is certainly one of my favourite places for a great lunch, a fantastic risotto or even just a cup of tea with a couple of small panini. And let's not forget that those cakes, pastries, cookies and gelato are still the best around!
