This restaurant is in my neighborhood & I've been several time - always take advantage of Living Social/Groupon deals. The menu is varied, food is good, and wine selection is equally interesting. Definitely worth checking out, especially if there's a deal.

We ate at Tolani on a Saturday night on a recent trip to NYC. The food is small plates, which worked well as a tasting menu for our large group. We had booked ahead, but had to wait quite a while for our table as the party before us were late finishing.

There were two absolutely stand-out dishes for me: the ricotta gnudi, and the vegetarian 'meatballs' accompanied by spaghetti made of roasted squash. These tasted unlike anything I'd ever tried before and were absolutely delicious. The flavours and textures were perfectly balanced and the dishes were all beautifully presented, with a careful attention to detail. The bill does stack up, but it really is worth it.

this restaurant I really liked. All the food is fresh and has got magnificent flavours. The dishes are small, as is pointed or on the menu. You have to eat several as 'tapas'. But it does adds up to the bill. especially the wine, 9-12 a glass. But with enough money this is a really great place!

Stumbled on this place while out for some sunshine on a Saturday. Very pleasant brunch and mimosa. Service was great Marlyn.

Unlike so many wine bars where the wines by the glass can be disappointing, Tolani has always had a consistently excellent choice of wines. The owner is South African and the restaurant features a number of really excellent South African wines. Also unlike many wine bars, the food is outstanding as well. Most menu options are small plates, though easy to share, with several entree sized portions as well. The wait staff are also really friendly and helpful in figuring the right amount of food to order for a larger group.
