“Heraldo was delightful”
Reviewed 18 November 2013 via mobile

After pre-dinner drinks at The Campbell Apartment my husband was informed by the hostess of The Carnegie Club. Which is all in the same group including our dinner restaurant if Madison & Vine. All three of these destinations made fir an exceptional evening. However The Carnegie was wonderful! Great atmosphere and cocktail list. Their cigar list is extensive and my husband and I both had a memorable night. Our waiter Heraldo was very pleasant and attentive. He made our night entertsining too. If you like a little cigar smoke with good drinks i would recommend Carnegie Club.

“Authentic Recreation of the Good Life”
Reviewed 9 November 2013

This might only exist like this in NYC -- The Carnegie Club -- a place of smoky cigars, good scotch and old school crooning, populated by a crowd of well dressed sophisticates. Welcome back to the Good Life.

The Carnegie Club in mid town recreates what we think existed in the 50s with Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack at the Sands. The only thing missing is the price -- afterall, this is 2013 and New York City, but even still, the prices weren't that outrageous.

The Club is a small lounge where cigar smokers can go. Heavy draped walls, classy waitresses, nice but cozy scotch list, well appointed beers and cocktails. On Saturday nights, they host Sinatra Saturday with Steven Maglio and the Stan Rubin Orchestra.

Steve is not an impersonator, he is a tribute artist who sings like Frank and tells stories of the Rat pack. It was actually thrilling listening to the songs and the orchestra. Two shows on Saturday, 8:30 pm and 10:30 pm, with different songs in each set. But be forewarned, two different covers for each show.

The club carries a nice selection of cigars, but unless you just zipped in from out of town without a stogie on hand, don't bother -- they are really expensive and it might be better to pay the $10 cutting fee for your own. During Saturday night shows, the cutting fee is waived.

What I liked about the club, besides the atmosphere of the throwback cigar lounge, the attitude of the clients and the help. Everyone understood this was a place of elite company, for ladies and gentlemen, where chivalry exists. I was surprised by the number of ladies in attendance, not just with male partners, but on their own.

It's a club for all ages, we saw as many mid-20 year olds as mid-50s.
Prices: $40 cover for each Sinatra show, with a two drink minimum. Bar prices start at $9 and go up.
Worth a repeat visit.

“WOW!”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

What a wonderful place. Go on a Saturday is a MUST. Steven Maglio sings Sinatra and he is amazing, sounds identical to the real a Frank . The band is wonderful. It does get smokey be it is a cigar bar but it's worth it. Have a cigar, sip on a cocktail and let the sounds of the past bring you back in time. I highly recommend this place. Staff was great. Drinks are pricey but you are in manhattan everything is pricey. Make sure you make a reservation so you can choose your seat.

“Cigar Friendly and Live Jazz”
Reviewed 29 October 2013

It was a great place to slow down, enjoy a cigar and whiskey and enjoy live jazz (depending on the night). I went on a Saturday night, and it was a great experience. Will do again.

“Great Spot”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

We spent two evenings at Carnegie Club. Basically, we were just walking down the street looking for a bar and stumbled on this place and we had a great time.
Staff are very friendly and the mixed drinks were outstanding (especially the "smokey orange sour).
Very old school feel with comfortable chairs and sofas.
It is a smoking bar, so if you do not like cigar smoke, you may want to look elsewhere.
