“Ridiculous price for a regular glass of Pino Grigio!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 January 2013

The waitress not only lacked the courtesy to tell us the glass was over $20 but she kept pouring mine half empty. After three glasses each we got a ridiculous $$$ bill and were charged for the tap water. Are you serious???

“Lovely find”

Cocktails were absolutely amazing, but very very expensive. Only visited once during our stay, would have gone back if a bit cheaper.

“The company made this better than it could have been.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2012

Myself and three other guys climbed onto the couches in the back on a cold night in January and had a tremendous time. The music choices were terrible, and the service was ok - but overall, it's a very good memory in my book.

“Great cocktails; great smokey, boozy ambience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2011

Did some research to find this place and it was worth tracking down.

I escaped a late-afternoon, Summer downpour and spent a very enjoyable few hours in here at the longbar -- savouring a honduran cigar, sampling a few sidecar martinis, and listening to the Miles Davis/bossa nova soundtrack playing on the sound system. The bartender was a pro, and the clientele were pleasant to chat and rub elbows with. I hope to return someday on my next visit to New York.

“Great Cigar Bar”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 December 2009

In a city where smoking is frowned upon, Hudson Bar and Books is one of the few establishments where smoking is not only allowed but also welcomed. The bar is situated in the meat packing district surrounded by high end retail shops and restaurants.
The interior is a bit small compared to the more well know lounges in NYC (Macanudo, Grand Havana, Carnegie) and prices are on par with most NYC lounges (2-3x above retail). They do allow you to bring your own cigars for a nominal cutting fee ($5) which is lower than most places in the city. There is an extensive whisky/scotch selection and your typical top self choices at the bar. Drink prices are a bit high but in line with prices in the neighborhood ($12-$16 for a drink). They also have a few choices for food if you are in the mood (try the pizza).
Overall, this is a great place to unwind and enjoy a good cigar (or two) in the afternoon or early evening. It can get a bit crowded later in the evenings so if you have a large group, it is recommended to call ahead of time for reservations.
