A real bavarian place in NYC, they serve a lot of authentic German variety of beer, as well as foods. Atmosphere is vibrant, like in Southern Germany at a Biergarten. Going back next time I'm in NY

This is a great little neighborhood spot. We stopped by on a Sunday evening. The weather was perfect so we sat outside. It was very busy, but our waitress took very good care of us. The outside area was a little tight, but that didn't bother us one bit as we had friendly people all around. The food was great, and of course, the beer was great as well. They have a few varieties of beer on tap from Kloster Andechs. That's all I needed to hear. We actually returned a few days later for a liter (or two) of their lager and doppelbock. Loved this place!

This is an unassuming watering hole in the East Village. You can sit out for a mug of beer, weather permitting. The food is ok and inexpensive.

on a saturday night it was very crowded but we still got a table for ten people, all german beer and wine no mixed drinks. it was a little bit on the noisy side but what do you expect with all the beer flowing. three sizes of beer steins large extra large and gigantic. excellent german food, everybody had a great meal, i had the special pork shank and would have it again.

There are a number of places called beer gardens in the US that market themselves as German because they serve beer in large glasses and serve cheap American hotdogs and call them wurst. Real German food, even at moderately priced pubs in Germany, has a wide variety of great tastes, with delicate fresh vegetables and salads, light and airy noodles and dumplings, very tender cuts of meat (and, of course, very good beer), and creamy desserts which are not dripping with sugar. This restaurant is one of only two or three in the whole United States that I have found that serves anything close to authentic German food. If you have been to Germany and are missing all those wonderful foods (including real brezels!) this is the place; it would hold its own with any restaurant serving standard cuisine in Germany.

The only odd thing is that they don't serve coffee!
