I found this hotel to be excellent. Though the rooms are small, I found that being in such a big city, I was only in the room to sleep. The restaurant at the hotel was fantastic. The service was great, everyone is very nice and helpful. The hotel was walking distance to just about every tourist attraction that Manhattan has to offer!

I found this hotel through Tripadvisor and boy was I happy I did. My brother and I stayed here for 11 nights.

It's a gorgeous little gem in the city, 5-10 minute walking distance from Times Square, the Theatre District, the Empire State, and the Rockerfeller Centre 2 minutes from the subways and smack bam in the middle of the Fashion District.

Very well located, beautiful building and great rooms. We had 2 generously sized double beds in a spacious room (by New York standards). There was room under the beds to store luggage, but unfortunately our bags were too big for that space. It's a good space saving idea though!

The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. Megan who checked us in was simply gorgeous. Being welcomed with Sean's smile was always wonderful. Evan was embarrassed that he couldn't remember our room number which I thought was too precious! Anthony was very knowledgeable of the city and very helpful with where to go. And Matthew who checked us out (at 5 in the a.m. and must have been exhausted) was all too friendly and helpful. I cannot speak more highly of the staff and even those we didn't interact with were just lovely and always greeted us with smiles.

And of course the little treats that were left with turndown service were especially cute and super delightful. Always looked forward to them and the little cards with fun trivia!

The negatives without which I would have given a 5 star rating:

Housekeeping needs a little improvement. One day our room was cleaned but not our bathroom.

Re toiletries, there was two of us but only one set (i.e. shampoo, conditioner & body wash) which wasn't enough. On a couple of ocassions, our toiletries (shampoo, body wash, etc.) weren't replenished after housekeeping which isn't a huge deal because we could call and ask for some to be sent to the room. On another two ocassions, extras were left in the bathroom and then (weirdly) taken away the next day.

On a couple of ocassions as well, despite having the privacy sign displayed, someone from housekeeping would knock and enter the room (invariably in the morning when we were sleeping).

The only other thing that was a little annoying was our inability to use all the elevators to go to our rooms because one or two (out of three) were blocked off for the roof top bar patrons. It wasn't a super huge deal because we're on holiday and have all the time in the world to spare, but I can see how people can get impatient given they're paying guests of the hotel.

Nine if these things are crucial, but without them our stay would have been absolutely perfect.

The Archer was a pleasing experience. Every staff member was thoroughly customer-service oriented and friendly. Although our room was very small (we were prepared for that), the space was efficiently designed and very tastefully appointed! The bed was incredibly comfortable. There were lovely touches like little local sweet tastes left at bed turn-down time. We ended up having a mini-meal at the restaurant and it was surprisingly good, though not inexpensive (the $10 coupon we were given on arrival removed the sting). The only disappointments were 1- lack of hot water in shower one morning at 8am; 2-that we couldn't get to the rooftop bar--I was traveling with my 16 year-old, so not the hotel's fault. For us the location was terrific, because we first stayed with friends on Long Island, then took the train in, and were able to walk the few blocks from Penn Station. Best of all, a primary purpose of the trip was attending B'way shows, and we were right in the neighborhood such that we could easily avail ourselves of rush or lottery ticket attempts at the theaters as well as proximity to TKTS. We happened to get a great promotional deal; don't know that it would feel quite as satisfying at regular rates. Highly recommended.

we stayed for 5 days. The staff was very friendly and professional. Most comfortable bed of any hotel by far. Turndown service was NOT mint on your pillow. It was funny informative interesting and very tasty whatever the treat was. The rooftop bar was great way to end a hot summer night looking at the Empire state bldg and moon. I have never stayed in a hotel where the gm security folks you know who you are concierge (sic?) front desk maid bellmen hostess bartender and waitress actually seemed interested in helping or answereing any question or helping out. the room was somewhat small for the bed but we slept got dressed and left for the day bathroom was big great mirror coverege maids stocked daily so if yuo didn't stay in room all day who cares. Our experience was great would go back or stay whenever i could thanks one and all

Room Tip: ask for empire side view maybe get queen bed
