“New Hotel With Nice Features”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

I booked this hotel due to the newness and modern style of the pictures. I would say everything lived up to its billing and more. The hotel was quite nice, stylish and sexy. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was not big (as expected in NYC) but all the elements in the room were fantastic. I loved the big shower and good sized bathroom plus in room Nespresso is always a joy. Another special touch was the nightly turn down treat. I was soooo looking forward to this by the end of my stay. I also ate dinner at the restaurant and must say it was extremely good. The whole experience was super. Oh and the BED WAS AWESOME. My best nights of sleep during my USA visit. Let me not forget the free wifi and pass to New York Sports Club gym around the corner from the hotel. Basically everything I needed and more.

Fantastic job on a new hotel! Highlights include
-a cool, modern, lobby bar that opens onto the outside patio. Lots of energy!
-wonderful in-room Nespresso machine (I am throwing out my Keurig after tasting Nespresso)
-amazing views from the VERY busy rooftop bar
-fabrick restaurant provides great dining
-SO QUIET...only 10 rooms on my floor.
-Security at doors and elevators during busy hours.
-Doormen and Front Desk were so helpful!
-Grocery shops and coffee shops nearby.
-Easy walk to Bryant Park, Times Square, and Macy's.

Downside:
-fitness pass to nearby gym is $30
-very crowded elevator situation in the evening due to the rooftop bar
-some of the cleaning staff were rude (but others were wonderful). A maid was eating a
salad in one of the elevators with the door propped open...rolled her eyes at me when I
got in and pushed a button for my floor.
-No view from my room...but hey, just go to the rooftop!

Dear hello_from_tn:

I am delighted to read you’ve found your perfect midtown hotel. Thank you for your kind comments regarding the ambiance of the hotel as well as the care and attention from our hosts.

I do apologize for the less than pleasant encounter with a member of our housekeeping staff. I will share your comment with our housekeeping supervisor so this won’t happen again.

I also apologize for the miscommunication regarding the passes to New York Sports Club. Our relationship with them allows our guests to use their facilities free of charge during their stay with us when they pick up a pass at the front desk.

Thank you again for taking the time to post a review and we hope to see you again soon!

We have done a lot of travel and never felt the need to post a review before. We stayed in the Den room which was huge and for 2 people with 4 suitcases was a fantastic sized room. The living area was nice to sit in so you aren't constantly on the bed. The bathroom was massive. All the staff were wonderful! I definitely recommend this hotel for location and its services. the hotel was within easy walking distance of everything so would highly recommend this location especially for people who have not visited NYC before.

Ok let's get the obvious out of the way. The rooms are tiny. I mean TINY.

Now that we got that out of the way...we were just in NYC for 4 nights. Found a deal for the hotel and the fact that it is brand new had it's appeal. Did the research on here about the hotel prior to going...so we knew that the room was going to be small. But was a little taken aback by how small. We did feel cramped at times but it was a good excuse to stay out and explore the city. It was also nice to come back to the room and find a treat waiting for us each night. NOTE...there is space under the bed to store your luggage...we went big knowing that shopping was going to happen.

The rooms are well decorated and the floor to ceiling windows make a huge difference. Bathroom is nice... shower is fantastic.

We were in NYC to celebrate my boyfriends birthday...so I called down to conceirge to see if the hotel does anything to make celebrations more special...Anthony came through and he was completely surprised when we came back into the room and found a cake and champagne waiting for him.

The rooftop bar is really nice...didn't get a chance to eat at the restaurant.

BIG win...Location. Situated in the middle so it makes it easy to get around.

Dear mchong5619:

I am so delighted to read that you and your boyfriend had such a wonderful time in New York City and your stay at Archer Hotel was absolutely superb! Our guest rooms are intimate, so we focused on filling them with thoughtful details that would provide large luxury.

It is great to know Anthony was able to help make your boyfriend’s birthday extra special with the cake and champagne in your room. Thank you for staying with us and we hope to see you again!

The hotel staff was friendly, helpful and offered rarely seen customer service (above and beyond). Our room was clean, the bed was incredibly comfortable, only complaint would be that it is on the small side. All the included amenities, were fantastic. Great view from the Spyglass Bar!

We stayed one night at the Archer on a recent trip to New York and loved it. We booked an Empire State view and had a double room and while the room isn't massive it was fine for one night. The view was great and the bathroom and the ammenities provided were fabulous. All the staff we encountered were friendly and food and drinks at Spyglass were excellent however you need to get there early as there can be a line up

Room Tip: Empire state view room was great

This hotel had been open less than 2 months when we checked in at the end of July. You really wouldn't know it - staff was professional and clearly well trained. It seemed like they had most of their bugs worked out and knew the best way to accommodate their guests. The room (a double double) was comfortable if a bit small (not surprising for NYC) and the rooftop bar featured views of the Empire State Building on one side, and Bank of America on the other. Lovely after dark. The downstairs bar was more friendly and had almost a neighborhoody feel, which is unusual in a hotel. Our only complaint is that the air conditioning (not a window unit, but fan based) was very loud for such a new building, and was impossible to keep under control. We sometimes had to just turn it off to keep from freezing, when it was set to 80 degrees. I admit we didn't tell them about this until checkout, so I don't know if they could have done something about it or not.

Room Tip: We were street side and only a few floors up and it was quiet enough so I think they got that right!

Dear NYC Susan:

I am delighted you had a wonderful stay with us and found our staff very accommodating. Archer is indeed the consummate host, and the staff has taken his lead to ensure every guest has a memorable stay.

I am delighted you enjoyed the roof top bar as well as the Bugatti Bar in the lobby. There is nothing like the rooftop views at Spyglass - it is a wonderful spot to relax with a cocktail and take in the splendor of the Empire State Building.

I apologize for the issues you had with the air conditioning in your room. I can assure you that this is a top priority and we’re sincerely frustrated that a guest of Archer’s would receive anything less than a perfect room. Thank you for comments and we hope to see you again.
