“Lovely Park”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 January 2014

This is a lovely park, a great rest stop downtown.
Close to many civil buildings and historical ones too; I enjoy sitting looking at the Woolworth building.
Also a good stop if you have just completed a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge or spent time in the Financial District.
The fountain is lovely and the gas lit lamps give the park a past times feel.

There is often sculpture in the park, it was a bit off the wall when I was there in the summer.

“just a park”

the local NYC Council members eat lunch here sometimes in the summer. you are just a few steps from the Mayors office. Alot of ticker tape parades end here after marching up Broadway also known as Canyon of Heroes

“There's Nathan Hale's statue”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 March 2013

My purpose was a statue of Nathan Hale.
A soldier of the American Revolution who was considered as a spy during the intelligence-gathering mission.
Then captured by the British.
He is probably best remembered for his purported last words before being hanged: "I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country."
Only 21 years old, wow!
Unfortunately I Couldn't go in the front of his statue due to City Hall rehabilitation plan at that time.

“A nice rest stop to local tourist locations”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 September 2012

A nice park centered near City Hall. Not Much to see unless your interested in Photography. There are no attractions. You will be able to see nearby spots such as City Hall. (For safety purposes City Hall is no longer available to the general tourist unless having business there.)
From here you can reach J&R Music (Over Priced but a wide variety of electronics to choose from), The Brooklyn, Bridge, The World Trade center/911 Memorial + shopping at Century 21 and nearby South Street Seaport.
