“One of the best (and most exciting) things you can do in New York :)”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

Yesterday we took "The Central Park Tour" lasting about 19 minutes, and it was fantastic... Keep an eye out for discounts & vouchers that you can find online or in promotions. We got about 35% off the listed price using a discount (plus a free photo each), which made the experience much better value for money.

Take lots of photos (and video) plus let the whole experience soak in... :)

The pier 6 helipad is large, and can house over a dozen helicopters at a time. The high speed of air coming off the blades is powerful, and can blow you around when getting on & off.

My mate was picked to sit upfront with the pilot, for uninterrupted and breath-taking views. It's harder to take photos sitting on either side in the back (and particularly sitting in the middle of a person on either side)... Perhaps try asking beforehand to sit in the front if you want the full experience, since there is no premium charged for any particular seat.

The windows in the back can be slid open to take photos through the gap, but this is windy and a bit cold (wear a sweater in the air).

New York is an awesome city to see from the sky - consider doing a flight in Fall (for the wonderful colour of the leaves) or in winter (when there's snow & many fewer people in the air).

“A wonderful trip if you can justify the price”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

There are a number of companies flying helicopter tours from the same pier at the south eastern end of Manhattan island. We used the New York Helicopter company because the hotel sold us tickets for that company so there was no other reason for using this company.

We arrived at the proscribed time (half an hour beforehand) and were greeted in a friendly if somewhat frenzied manner. Our scheduled flight time was 11:00 but in the event we were nearly half an hour late being taken to the aircraft. There is quite a bit of sitting around without much information or any interaction with the staff which could perhaps be done a bit better.

We took the middle of the three options which was the Central Park option (down the Hudson river from Liberty Island to (and over) Central park and then back the same way. This was a very good trip.

There are three in my family and we were perhaps unfortunate in that another group of three turned up so that we had a full helicopter. That said most of the helicopters appeared to be full which may have been because it was a beautiful clear day following immediately after a horrible rainy one the day before. With 6 passengers in the helicopter it was really only possible to see out of one side so patience is a virture - at least on our trip the helicopter returned on roughly the same route as the outbound leg so those on the port (New Jersey facing) side of the aircraft on the way out found themselves on facing New York City on the return.

The headphones / microphones in the helicopter could perhaps have been better - it was sometimes difficult to pick up what people were saying and it is quite cramped inside - it would not be comfortable for 6 large people!!

There are absolutely no bags allowed on board (including camera bags) - although cameras were allowed. The bags were left in lockers which seemed absolutely fine.

As previously mentioned there were a number of different operators flying out of the same heliport. One of these had helicopters which larger floor-to-ceiling windows which might have improved visibility for all. At least one of them appeared to offer a personalised video of the tour. However we did not try either of these so cannot comment on their quality but mention it for the sake of a complete review. At the end of our tour we were offered the opportunity of buying a picture or a memory stick with our picture and a few generic pictures but there was no video option.

This is a very expensive 20 minutes at $236 per person but we all thought that this was the number one highlight of our holiday and, given the beautiful clear day, money that we had no regrets spending.

In summary we had a wonderful time but at the price we felt that one or two minor details could be improved upon.

“Zabojad Exploring America”
Reviewed 21 April 2014

The most impressive and wonderful Tour of NYC. The big apple for sunset on Helicopter Tour was a marvellous and unforgettable. Flying around NYC with my japanese friend Kenishi and discovering the Statue of Liberty after a curve is a magic and unique experience. Strongly recommended flight to anyone visiting NYC.

“Superb trip”
Reviewed 14 April 2014

We just turned up and bought the $200 trip which included flying all the way up to the Yankees stadium and back. It was the highlight of our holiday, sensational views and such a fun experience. The staff were very friendly and efficient - we were in the air within 10 minutes of entering the building.

I can't believe some of the negative reviews on here, maybe it is easier not to book the trip in advance and just turn up on spec.

“Awesome flight over the Big Apple”
Reviewed 12 April 2014

Took the Manhattan Flight of 15 minutes and did not make a reservation. If you show up alone or maybe just the two of you without reservation they just might get you on one of the first flights out.
In my case I was up and going in 5 minutes without standing in line..

How awesome it was!! Big Apple in the sun, flying across the skyline in a helicopter (my first time :-) ) Would recommend it do take this tour!!!
