“5 star experience at a 3.5 star hotel”
Reviewed 2 April 2014

We had a flawless and thoroughly enjoyable stay at the Hilton Garden Inn CPS in NYC. Service was friendly and efficient and the brand new property was a true pleasure to stay at. Everything worked to perfection, there were no glitches. Great staff, nice property, awesome location. Clean, quiet, attractive furnishings -- all good.

My one (very small) complaint is that the sliding bathroom door set-up provides very little in the way of sound privacy.

Trip to NYC w/ friends to see a show on Broadway. The hotel is very nice, & the staff very accomodating. They allowed us to check in early so that we could get ready for a 2:00 pm show. The rooms are on the smaller side but very clean w/ nice decor. Elevators are very small & cannot fit many ppl + luggage. I suggest a room on a low floor so that you can take the stairs if necessay. Also use ZIP check-out to avoid the wait at the front desk.

We stayed at this Hilton on March 23rd and 24th. The front desk was very nice and professional - they even held on to our bags before it was time to check in so we wouldn't have to lug them around the city until our room was ready. Same for when we checked out on the 24th - we had a tour later that day so we were able to keep them at the hotel and go pick them up afterwards before our train left the city.

Hot coffee and tea in the morning inthe loby as well as a snack in the afternoon. We loved the location - close to Central Park and close to Times Square, either by walking or Subway if you must. Great places to eat near by including a bunch of delis and Ellen's Stardust Cafe as well as all the places in Times Square. In the opposite direction is Central Park so that's nice.

We loved our room. It was a bit cramped, but for the three of us it wasn't too bad. Nice comfy and clean. If we go back to NYC, we will probably stay here again.

This hotel is in a great location on 54th st between 7th and 8th st. It is easy to walk north to Central Park or south to Times Square. If you are going to see Cinderella, it is less than 1 block away. There are several good restaurants nearby. For a quick bite, 54 gourmet, a deli, is practically across the street. Applejack diner is also on the same block as the hotel and was a good breakfast option. The rooms are new and a decent size. It was nice to have a mini fridge and microwave. That being said, the hotel does have some service issues. The elevators are not sufficient for the number of people using them. There were often long waits. We took the stairs from the 15th floor on several occasions. Other service issues revolved around front desk staff. We requested adjoining rooms. Upon check in we were told that the adjoining rooms were available and assigned to us. We were given keys to one of the rooms and asked to wait about an hour for keys to the adjoining room because it was being cleaned. Upon return, we were given keys to another room that was not adjoining. The desk worker (different one than before) told us we could not have the room promised to us because it was given to someone else. We tried to explain to her several times that we were promised the room. She was very irritable and said "this other room is directly across the hall". The room was down the hall from our other one but not across the hall.
We booked a car service through the front desk for our checkout day. The car service sent the wrong size vehicle. The front desk staff, however, quickly remedied this and called for another car. When our car arrived, we were offered no assistance with bringing our huge cart of luggage out to the curb. One of the three front desks clerks saw us struggling and said flippantly "oh, there is no one to help?" And she made a half-hearted attempt to open the door and that was it. I found this to be extremely rude. Tip: if you check your bags, allot at least a half hour to have them retrieved. Baggage service is easily overwhelmed.
Overall, this hotel was sufficient. I would recommend it based on location and room quality However, some members of the front desk staff require more training or assistance to increase customer satisfaction.

We specifically called ahead to confirm we had adjoining rooms and was assured we did. When we got there, we did not have them. Natalie at the front desk was very nice and though she couldn't get us adjoining rooms, she was able to get us just one room apart which was fine. We had a late flight home Friday night, so we had to check our 14 bags (8 of us traveling together) at the desk. Delgado was in charge of this. He made a crack to my sister about how he better get a big tip. She laughed it off. He then commented again about how he better get a big tip. My sister told him she would appreciate it if he did not mention that again. Again, Delgado had the nerve to mention how big his tip needed to be. My sister was livid. I immediately turned to the gentleman in the suit standing there witnessing all of this thinking he was management. He told me he was just security and that we should just let it go because he didn't want us to get Delgado in trouble. I asked at the front desk to speak to a manager. One never showed up so I just voiced my complaint with the front desk clerk. She had an unusual name that started with a S. She agreed with us and told us that a tip was not a must because that is part of his job but I am not sure she passed on our complaint. When we left, we told Delgado that he shouldn't talk to customers that way and that tips were discretionary. He never apologized. We were going to tip $20 but dropped it to $15. I didn't want to leave a tip at all but my sister felt we needed to to make sure nothing was stolen or damaged in our bags. We did tip the man who brought out our bags $20 and unfortunately, I don't know his name because I was outside waiting for the car. Sam was also very helpful. We had a great week in NYC but this was definitely not a good way to end our trip. Overall though, this hotel was new so there was still some painting going on, the handle on our bathroom door broke but the rooms are really clean. They are very small (typical in NYC) but you don't hear any of the city noise or your neighbors which is super nice. Elevators are crazy busy in the morning hours so we had to take the stairs from the 14th floor but that was ok going down! You really couldn't ask for a better location though. Super convenient for walking to a lot of tourist destinations! With the exception of a few, many friendly and very helpful faces. Again, Sam was very nice and he helped us our several different days.

Our family of three stayed for a week in a two queen bed room. The rooms are about 200 square feet, which is typical of NY. The location was great for us as we mainly were in NY to visit the art museums, Carnegie Hall and Chelsea area. The subway was about a two block walk.
The only snafu was I requested a room with a bathtub before we arrived and upon arrival learned there are very few rooms with tubs and those were available only in King rooms. Also, the bathroom door is a sliding door - they call it a 'barn door'. We all felt that it did not provide as much 'sound' privacy as a swinging door. Otherwise, the room was convenient, clean and very quiet even though we were on the street side.

This is the most expensive of the three I stayed in, but still the cheapest rate for that night. Everything was good. Room new, with individual heat/ac, desk with chair, king size bed, fridge, microwave, Keurig coffee machine and a large hdtv. Good channels available for English and Spanish. Bathroom was clean and decent sized with a shower. The place was clean, and so different from my last place. Location, between 7/8th avenue, close to the Ed Sullivan theatre. Lots of things to do around. Walked to Times Square and The Rock. Paid 70 and 30 more than the other two hotels, but you get what you paid for. My number one choice.
