“Charming all the way round”
Reviewed 27 April 2014

Very intimate and charming place to dine in NYC. Our party of ordered the steak for four --very nicely seasoned, plentiful, and cooked to perfection. Truly exceptional. We also shared one Caesar salad (made at table side -- best Caesar I've had in the 15 years), one mashed potato and one creamed spinach. We were stuffed! Service was friendly, professional and we were never rushed -- even on a Saturday night. The live piano music was the piece de la resistance. I will go back -- next time yo try the $38 pris fixe dinner menu.

“Beware of "Restaurant Week"”
Reviewed 20 February 2014

This is "Restaurant Week" in NYC where participating restaurants charge $25 for lunch and $38 for dinner for a three course meal (appetizer, main course, and desert). I did a rough calculation and basically you get desert for free, still not a bad deal. Of course drinks are not included and this is where the scam comes into play. I ordered a glass of "house barolo" and when I checked my bill the charge was $19! I could have bought a decent bottle for that price! My wife ordered a glass of "house chianti" and was charged $16! If these were premium wines, the exorbitant prices would be justified but these were house wines!! The table next to us was more astute - they ordered ice tea with their meal.
I must admit that the food was good and the service was excellent.

“Our least enjoyable meal in NYC...”
Reviewed 18 January 2014 via mobile

It was not a total disaster but there were a few things that were not to our liking. The best part was that it was roomy and fairly quiet! That was until the 90 something pianist started to tinkle the ivories! Neither my wife or I are particular fans of pianists in restaurants preferring good background music. Even less a fan when they come up to your table angling for a request. And yes, he was more than expecting a tip on the way out. Service was prompt and good, however my wife ordered the fish of the day, Dover sole, which was fileted at the table. The issue there was it took too long, got cold, was then reheated by the waiter and was as a result very dry!! The real shock was when the bill arrived, $50 for the fish with no garnish whatsoever. The side of Broccoli was enormous and just too much for one person (around $10). I believe when most of your mains are between $25-$35, you should warn your customers that the fish of the day is $50!! The rest of the food consisting of prawns and another dish were average. We would not return however if you like live pianists, and you are wary of what you choose you could find it an enjoyable evening.
