“Pretty Good for NYC”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 December 2013

The location of this place is just fantastic. You can walk to everything from Times Square to Radio City Music Hall. Just wonderful. They advertised their parking fee at $35/day, but when we arrived with a cross-over vehicle, they jumped the price up to $47/day due to having an "oversized vehicle." Hmmm… Still took up 1 parking spot. Not that big of a vehicle. So that was annoying.

The room was teeny tiny, but we squeezed in. It seemed clean enough. The free breakfast was good and saved us a bundle on food that morning.

We had a good time and would use this hotel again in the future.

We found this hotel on online, and it was great! The location is awesome! You can walk everywhere. It is a tad small, but heck it is NYC. The rooms are clean and the staff is helpful. The only thing that I would say is not perfect, is the breakfast area. It is very cramped in the morning.

The room was small (two double beds), but spotlessly clean. Friendly and helpful staff. There were two adults and two young children in our party, so it was a bit crowded in the room, but the cleanliness and location were certainly worth it. The breakfast area is super tiny, so we took our selections up to our room; there were many choices of food items. All in all, nothing fancy but it served our needs perfectly. Location was perfect for the places we wanted to visit.

I arrived last night with a confirmed reservation only to have the front desk tell me my room was no longer available (“taken out of service”…likely overbooked) and that they were moving me to another hotel 19 blocks away (no longer in Times Square). They did this to a Priority Club Platinum member who probably has stayed at their property 25 times over the past few years, so I would recommend picking this hotel (not the Holiday Inn on 26th either, same ownership).

Room Tip: Pick a different hotel.

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights over thanksgiving. The only bad thing I can say about this hotel is that the room we stayed in was very small! There was also a mix up with my as I requested a non smoking room but didn't receive that but having booked through an Internet site there must have been some miscommunication. However when we went in to the smoking room there was no trace or smell of smoke so it was fine.

This hotel is not actually located on 5th ave but is about a 1-2 min walk to it! I couldn't ask for a better location it is also app 10-15 mins to time sq and along the street there are some nice Irish bars to get some food and drinks. We went to a pub called connollys which was really nice and fairly reasonable!

The staff in this hotel were really nice always had a smile on their face and always ready to help. Also included in the price was a free breakfast which was from 6am until 10am and 24hrs tea or coffee also free. For breakfast there was a great choice of pancakes, which were made fresh as you wanted them, fruit, eggs, sausages, bacon, toast, cakes, yoghurts and juice. All the food was really nice and fresh.

I would gladly stay in this hotel again and would recommend it to anybody wanting to stay close in the city. It is a perfect location and also quiet at night as its just off the main street.

We just came from a 2 night stay here and I was impressed. We arrived on Wednesday before Thanksgiving prior to check-in. The staff was eager to check our bags for us while we explored the surrounding area and got a bite to eat. Once we returned our luggage was promptly retrieved and our room was ready. We were on the 3rd floor. Our first reaction was how small the room was but I had read the reviews and was prepared. I traveled with my 2 college kids. Our first time in the Big Apple and we loved every minute of it. We ate at the pizza shop right on 45th between 5th and 6th and we grabbed a bite at Milk and Honey right across from the hotel. Both had great food and great service.

We walked to Times Square several times over the course of our stay and Rockefeller Center too. We did take a taxi to the 9/11 memorial. Our main event was the Macy's Day parade and our hotel was only steps away from that as well. We actually didn't even get up till 8:15 and headed out about 8:45 and although we weren't in the front row, we were only about 3 people back and enjoyed a fantastic view.

The hotel was clean and quiet. The staff was so friendly. Our bags were kept for us again as we checked out and had hours until our train left. The breakfast was perfect for on the go. It was crowded but if you were patient you could get what you needed. All the seats were taken but we were on the move anyways.

One last thing, We did some Black Friday shopping leaving the hotel at midnight to go to Urban Outfitters, The Gap and Best Buy. We always felt safe.

Thanks so much for a very enjoyable stay !!

This is an AMAZING location in the heart of the city. The entrance isn’t all that large so don’t walk too fast – you might just miss it! If you are just looking for a basic room to rest your head at night and a place that is more wallet friendly, this will be perfect for you.

Wi-fi is complimentary and worked great. The breakfast is also complimentary and is pretty good. Hot breakfast items included eggs, bacon, sausage, and make your own waffles. There is also yogurt, hard boiled eggs, fruit (bananas and apples), cereal, and a variety of beverages (i.e., hot tea, coffee, and juices). However, there are tons of little coffee shops and restaurants around the hotel if you are looking for other options.

If you are going to / from LGA airport, just take a cab. I heard it was easier than trying to figure out the subway and bus combination route. If you are coming from JFK airport, you can take the Air Train from the airport to Jamaica station and then get on the E train from there, and it takes you right into the city. There are several subway stops very close to the hotel, including Times Square or Bryant Park. For airport transportation, you can also take the NYC Airporter (shuttle option) but just be aware that it may be slow depending on traffic conditions.

The hotel staff was very helpful in answering all my inquiries. They have maps of the city and subway guides.

The only downside I found was the street noise even very late at night (or early in the morning), but this is NYC. Pretty much unavoidable in the city so just be aware. Perhaps the higher floors are more quiet. The elevator is quite slow so be prepared for a wait especially during the hustle and bustle of the morning. None of these are deal breakers for me so I would certainly stay here again!
