“Clean, small rooms, close to everything”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

We expected small rooms from staying in NYC in the past, so yes, the room was VERY small. But the beds were so small, my husband is 6"2 and he didn't come close to fitting. Our teenage girls had to share a bed and I think one of them would have slept on the floor, if there was room in the room, which there wasn't. The hotel is clean, breakfast fine and it's a great location to Times Square, shopping, Empire State Building, a not a far walk to Central Park. It's a stretch to see the double room can fit four adults.

Thank you for your recent review and valuable feedback. We thank you for also mentioning the positive aspects of your stay. I wish we could have provided a larger room than the one you stayed in. I have passed this feedback to my team as well. We do hope we have the opportunity in the near future to have you as our guest once again and maybe provide a room with a different layout. Thank you once again and have a great day.

It was a nice stay. It is a great location and I was able to do what I had to do in NY without having to move too much due to the great location! The only small problem is that there are only 2 elevators that are used not only by the guests but also by the staff. So you end up waiting for a while especially during the morning. Suggest to plan accordingly. Other than this detail, the service was great. Like any other holiday inn in the USA you can take a tray of breakfast to your room, which is great!

Room Tip: In NY the higher the room the better

We can not say enough good things about this wonderful, welcoming, fabulously located Holiday Inn Express. This was our fifth stay and we will be coming back again and again. Our terrific experience is largely owing to the WONDERFUL GENERAL MANAGER, MR. LEWISTON MURRAY! We spoke to Mr. Murray prior to our arrival with some special requests, to which he was extremely responsive. We felt extremely appreciated at Priority Club Platinum Elite members and felt that Mr. Murray and his staff went out of their way to be pleasant, welcoming and professional. At the front desk, our main contact was MR. ELIECER GARCIA. Mr. Garcia was welcoming, enthusiastic and gave us great, prompt advice at every turn. Like Mr. Murray, Mr. Garcia is a true asset to IHG!
Space is at a premium in NYC to say the least. Despite the small dining area, the breakfast each morning had variety and flavor and was something we looked forward to.
We look forward to our next stay next month!

Room Tip: We usually ask for a high floor, given the outside traffic noise level in Manhattan.

It was my first trip in New York. Great Hotel. I recommend this hotel!
The room was small, but perfect size for New York, The breakfast was good with different option, although there was no an express machine. The location was excellent, convenient for everything.
Walking distance to Times Square, Empire State Building, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, Grand Central Station....
A good free wifi in the room.

We just returned from New York and stayed at this hotel. it is very close to everything. It is also very tiny, including the laughable fact that our feet hung off of the ends of our beds. There are six rooms only on each floor. The place was nice, clean and the people were very pleasant. The breakfast had lots of choices, which is good, because once you leave you will walk a million miles before you come back that night!
Two blocks from Times Square, took no time to walk there. It is on 5th Avenue: shopping galore.

Room Tip: Keep in mind, this hotel is for convenience not luxury!

Location was paramount!! So close to Time Square and subway! Room was small but clean. The shining star at this location was Paul. Arrived too early to check in so Paul stored our luggage & we set out on our adventure. His smile was so kind and he was so nice. I hope I have his name correct so that he will be told by his superiors that his job performance and personality was appreciated. He is an asset to your business. Oh and the coffee shop next door Resette was AMAZING!!

I and a family member recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express New York City Fifth Ave hotel. The hotel is centrally located and walking distance to many interesting places. It is also a short distance to city buses.

The hotel is on a fairly quiet street, near some very good eateries (Café Manhattan being one we frequented quite a bit). The hotel is quite small as Holiday Inns go. It is a very narrow and tall building having 22 storeys. There are only five or six rooms per floor. The main floor breakfast area is quite small and depending what time you arrive for breakfast (served from 6:00 until 10:00 a.m.) you may have to wait for a table. Take-out is also available.

The breakfast buffet has quite a variety of breads, buns, rolls, etc., as well as a number of different cereals, both hot and cold. A toaster is available. Fresh eggs (omelette), sausage or bacon are available. There is a pancake making machine where you can set the machine to have the pancakes made to your liking. Fresh juice, coffee and tea are also available as well as milk in single serve cartons. Yogurt and granola are also available. Everything is self-serve. Coffee and tea are available at all hours. The eating area is very clean.

The staff are friendly, courteous and efficient. The room was very clean and well stocked with towels and bath supplies (soap, lotion, shampoo). The elevators (there are two) do not hold too many people so there may a bit of a wait. We could not hear any of our neighbours and, since our room faced the back of the building (our view was of another tall building and not much else)there were no street noises that disturbed us.

As the rooms are small it is not really a place to spend a lot of time but one assumes that people are in New York City either for business or pleasure and therefore are out and about most of the time. I would highly recommend this hotel.
