It seems weird to review the Hilton in New York -- on the one hand, it's just another nice Hilton Hotel. But for a couple years it seemed to get a bad rap, with age and a lack of staff friendliness creating bad reviews. As a regular visitor, those days are gone. The rooms have been redone, and they're well appointed. The staff seems to have been given some customer service training, since everyone has become considerably more friendly and customer focused. While it's true you'll still run into big groups gathering in the lobby, the hotel badly needs a bar that's not on the first floor, and the Hilton Honors area on the upper floor is flat out boring, the overall hotel has once again become a very nice place to stay. And if you watch it closely, you can still find the occasional deal (in Manhattan dollars).

The location is perfect for walking to everything. Beyond the location, the hotel was a disappointment. One of our two rooms was not ready when we arrived, even though it was 4:30 p.m. The co-worker without a room came to my room to wait to be called that a room was ready. When he called at 6:00 and mentioned the inconvenience, he was offered a late check-out... no upgrade. The hotel rooms need some TLC. The meeting rooms were freezing cold and the sound of construction was a distraction. They ran out of coffee both times that I went for a cup in the morning and said it would be 45 minutes to brew more. In addition to the price of the room, the parking is expensive, the gym is $15/day and the wi-fi is $15/day. Oh, and if you pay for wi-fi in your room, you still have to pay another $25/day to have it in the ballroom for the conference. Since a wi-fi signal must be available in the lobby, there are people lining the hallway to get a signal; it looks ridiculous.

We brought our family for their first trip to NYC and the Hilton was a wonderful place to stay!! It was very clean and welcoming! The staff was very nice while we were planning our trip and once we arrived. The location was perfect and we were within walking distance of many of the places we wanted to visit. It was a Perfect hotel for a family trip and we would definitely stay here again!!

Due to a late flight we arrived at the Hotel around 2AM (kudos to Carmel Car Service for sticking with us and waiting for us at the curb as we walked out). The staff was very friendly and the room we had requested was still available. The location is ideal for Central Park; shopping; Broadway and Times Square. The concierge desk knows everything and everyone in NYC. The Hilton New York will be our choice every time we make it up to NYC.

I stayed at the Hilton New York for three nights. It is a Las Vegas type hotel - thousands of rooms, fast check-in, good room, but impersonal service. I liked it, but not that much. The service is way too impersonal, as it occurs in hotels with many rooms. The room was good though, and everything went well. It would not be my first (nor second) choice in NY, but if I got a good rate on it, I would be back. On thing that is very good is the location. Top location. Right in between Times Square and Central Park, and near subway stations.

I have stayed at this hotel a number of times and generally it is a good experience although each time I come away with a few doubts.
The rooms are consistently clean and well maintained. The staff are super friendly and efficient. The location is very good and the views are great. MOst of this is covered b y other reviews and I would agree with many,

The downsides for me revolve around the expectation that I have when paying over $400 per night (including taxes) vs what I actually experience. The elevator to the executive floor does not service the lower Hilton Honors Diamond status floors, which makes it a pain to get to especially sine, being a large hotel , the elevators are constantly busy. The complimentary food in the Executive lounge is a little "canteen style" and obviously caters to the large number of people that crowd into the lounge.
Perhaps I have been unlucky, but each tim I have been there, there has been a convention and masses of people, crowd all the facilities. All-in-all a good hotel, but I would say, if you are looking for a personal touch or a little exclusivity for your $ 400, you might want to look elsewhere.

Room Tip: If you have Executive Lounge access try to make sure you get a room on a floor that services the Lo...

We stayed on the 38th floor with a view if 53rd street from 6th ave. to the river. The thing impressed us the most was the fabulous service. Everybody went out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable. The location is great near to Central Park, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Radio City Music Hall, etc.

Room Tip: Ask for the best room at check-in and they will try to satisfy you.
