“You're paying for the location”
Reviewed 11 June 2013 via mobile

It looks dodgy when you walk in. It's not the cleanest or neatest place as shown on the website. The rooms thankfully are pretty good and resemble the photos. It's in a great location; the subway is just out the door; you can walk around Chelsea, meat packing district, Westside. There's a couple of computers downstairs and a bare and ugly outside area (why in NYC when you have a big back yard, wouldn't you make it into a great space?) Still, The A/C worked, bed was comfy, staff were friendly and helpful, especially Mathew. And it's a great deal for 2 or more people in a room. Alone it was pricey but So cheap compared to everything else around there. I
Stayed in rooms 15, 35, and 48 over 7 days. Quieter upstairs. Muffins for breakfast and coffee maker in the room, as well as fridge, and stove in most (or Microwave). I think shared bathrooms are only cleaned once a day, so shower in the afternoon if you want a clean space.

Yes it's a bit trashed and could use some paint and a handyman, but you get so much more on the other hand. A lot of facilities and polite and helpful service at the desk. I'm impressed that you can rank only two stars, when the room offered: kitchen with stove and four gas hobs, fridge, coffee machine, microwave oven, an iron, a hairdryer, TV, bathtub and soap dispensors, a small table and three chairs and a sleepng couch...

The rooms are a bit loud - not from the street, but from the rest of the hotel - not much, but still. The towels are rather old and worn, but everything is clean and works.

The area is great. Right nex to Meatpacking and a subway right on the corner. I would definetly go again!

The hotel is at a great location, close to Chelsea Market/ meatpacking... They are working in the hotel at the moment, but this was for us not too much of a problem.. We were awake early (8 o'clock) anyway... We had a shared bathroom... Have seen cleaner ones, but It's shared so never as clean as you have your own...the staff was very nice!! Some had more experience in giving tips About NYC then others.. If you don't want to be in a Nice area close to meatpacking and Greenwich and don't want to spent to much and you are not too critical I would recommend this hotel..

we stayed at this hotel for 4 days....Here's what we thought of a place.

Pros.

it's located right by the ACE train stop.

Cons....

the young man at the front desk was not friendly.
the hallways and bathrooms were dirty.
the room was small and walls were dirty.
there's a lot of noise coming in from outside traffic.
the cleaning staff makes a lot of noise, yelling at each other from floor to floor in the hallway, slamming doors as they go from room to room.
the wifi was very slow and the signal was weak.

all of the above made for a very unpleasant stay at Hotel 309

I stayed there for one week and did not find this hotel too great. I have stayed in several low cost hotels/hostels so I did not expect 5 star luxury but still I felt disappointed, especially given that the room rate was about $200 per night.

The 4-bed private room was very small and there was practically no room for luggage. Housekeepers did not clean the room during the week. Bathrooms were quite dirty and impractical. There was no elevator so we had to carry our heavy bags to the third floor. Receptionists were not very friendly, but quite rude to us.

On the positive side, the location is excellent. The subway stop is very close and there are also great restaurants and the Chelsea Market nearby. The High Line park (not to be missed!) is also near.

Hello,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. First and foremost, I would like to offer our sincere apologies for not meeting your expectations. We strive to ensure a satisfactory experience for all of our guests, and sometimes we do miss the mark. Our shared bathroom rooms are cleaned at least twice per day, however occasionally an issue may occur in between scheduled cleanings that misses our immediate attention. If this was the case, I again apologize as the environment would not have been satisfactory. Please know that I as the GM and the rest of our staff do take these concerns seriously and when notified, we will take immediate action. If you would not return to Hotel 309, we certainly respect your decision. If, however, you would extend us the chance to show you that we can and do provide exemplary service, we would be willing to offer you a credit on your next stay. Please feel free to contact me at Hotel309@Gmail.com to discuss further if you are at all interested. Again, we apologize for missing the mark during your stay.

The hotel was completely overpriced. The bathroom was dirty as was the bedroom. The air con didn't work and the wifi never worked even though they took our money.
When I went to the front desk to complain, no one was there on the supposedly 24 hour maned desk.
For the price it was unacceptable. I would not recommend it to anyone and will not stay here again.
