I stayed at the Hotel Mela over the weekend for a business convention at Time Square. Hotel Mela is just a block away from Times Square and Marriott Marquis, where my business meeting was. It is a perfect location. Staff at the hotel was very helpful and friendly. The price is reasonable.
However, the hotel room is extremely small. The bathroom shower was very tight, and I barely fit in there comfortably. The location of my room is on the second floor, therefore, the noise from the street and the restaurant/bar downstairs was terrible, and lasts until 1 am.
The only reason I booked this hotel is because Marquis was all booked and the only available hotel nearby was Hotel Mela. If you plan to come to the city, spending minimum time in the hotel room, this is ok. But if you are like me here for business meeting, I will not recommend it to you.

We stayed for 10 days over Thanksgiving and it was absolutely perfect. The location was phenomenal, the rooms always clean and tidy, steps to great restaurants, lovely accommodating staff. Upgraded room because it was my birthday. And I have to laugh at the ridiculous people who whine about room size........ITS NEW YORK, cute, quaint, cozy is how I would describe it. A perfect room for a couple, we didn't need anything more than that. Would stay again in a heart beat. Fabulous, a beautiful boutique hotel.

Nice location , close to Times Square. We stayed in the executive room. It was very cramped ( small ). 16 inches between bed and mini bar. Almost have to turn sideways to walk around bed. Terrible view out of the window. Overpriced. Will not stay here again!

Just like I had read on Tripadvisor, the Mela Hotel's staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly and helpful. We were celebrating a very special anniversary and mentioned it at the time of booking. Joanna, at reservations, was very accommodating and supportive. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted with "Happy Annniversary" wishes from Neyoleat the front desk and John Palace, conceirge and a promise for our room to be ready soon. When we returned to the hotel late afternoon, we were surprised to receive an upgrade and had rose petals on our bed and a note for a very happy anniversary. It was incredibly thoughtful and added much glee to our stay. What a wonderful time and great hotel staff. All was better than ever expected at this great find near the theater district. I thank you all.

This hotel excels on value, safety, and comfort. The great staff will bend over backward to service your needs. A short walk to Times Sq, Bryant Park, and Rockefeller Center makes this hotel a best bet in NYC lodging. The Saju French restaurant located next to the hotel has a great breakfast. Rooms are comfortable, clean, and quiet. I have stayed at this hotel over a dozen times and each stay delivers the same high quality.
