“Great Stay on Times Square”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

Although the rooms are very small, when you're in New York City you aren't supposed to spend much time in your room! Our room over looked the Belasco Theatre. Quiet, clean, friendly staff. Right around the corner is everything! The cost of the room was spendy, but you're paying for location, and since you can walk or subway to everything, there's a cost consideration. Worth it!

Room Tip: Upper floors are probably quieter, but elevator not speedy.

Tis hotel is just off Broadway, the rooms are small very similar to rooms in Europe however with is much to do in NYC one doesn't stay in the room long. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. The bistro next door has a superior breakfast which is included in the cost of the room. It is New York so there is noise but nothing you can't sleep through. I would recommend this hotel. There is not a swimming pool but there is a small fitness area. Sorry can't get the check box to dismiss the swimming pool check.

Room Tip: Try to get one with the bathroom facing 42nd street, shutting the bathroom door greatly reduced the...

I booked this property last minute and I couldn't be more pleased. The location to the theater district is great, staff was superb. Yes the rooms were small but who cares! :)) the rooms were modern, very clean and comfortable. I would stay here again without hesitation!

Nick Ivezaj, General Manager set the bar for service very high for his entire staff. Everyone was helpful, friendly and eager to help us. They took care of our every request quickly. They
made our visit and our stay very comfortable.
The location was great with lots of close choices and convenient.
We made new friends.
We lok forward to coming back to Hotel Mela. Zev and Fran Rosen

City hotels generally have smaller rooms, this hotel was no exception. That said the rooms are well appointed and clean. The staff are helpful and courteous.

During our stay we asked if larger rooms were available, we didn't persist with this line of enquiry when we were told that none of the rooms had dressing tables, which was our reason for the enquiry. The lack of a dressing table in the room, no lounge bar or common area in which to relax means this property didn't suit our needs entirely. After a hectic day blasting about NYC I'd like to relax in the hotel bar for a while away from the hubbub. Whilst the pub directly next door provided the beer, the ambience wasn't the tranquillity away from the relentless energy that is New York we were looking for.

In terms of value for money, Hotel Mela scores in providing a perfectly central location to the city at reasonable cost. If you want more space, and more hotel facilities, either dig deeper or stay less centrally.

If you are a city person used to the 24 hour stream of traffic noise, hooters and sirens you wont notice much of a change. If you are a country person, I would recommend earplugs or a hotel with triple glazing.

This is a good 'boutique' hotel, but if you prefer the extras like a hotel lounge/bar and a dressing table in your room, I'd 'go large'.

Hotel Mela is in a great location for theaters, museums, and shopping.
Rooms are a bit small but very comfortable. The hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating. There is no restaurant in the hotel but the Bistro next door provides room service. Also there is a very good restaurant directly across the street (Un, Deux, Trois) that is nice for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
We will definitely stay there again. Oops, almost forgot to say that the Red Door (spa/salon) is also next door. Convenient!!

In a nutshell, Hotel Mela was great !
The rooms aren't huge but large enough. They were modern and clean and had everything one would need. The location is fabulous !!..... Times Square is a 2 min walk and subway systems all connect there do it is so easy to get around . If you get breakfast next door at the Bistro you will not be dissapointed. I would stay here again for sure !!
